Lion Resorts holiday club

Won a free holiday? Suspicious? This is the place for you!

I was recently on Gran Canaria, and I got interduced to this whole idea of Lions resort holiday club...I've read most of the thread here now, not everything, but I am glad I didn't sign anything with them.

But however they were very professional and they had peoples who talked my native language (swedish) and all seemed very good...but I knew there was something going on, or at least I had a strange feeling about it.

And here's the thing...I scratched three palms on the card and won a free holidy to any of the klr hotels for 4 persons for a week, I also got t-shirt and a bottle of wine. I got a certificate that said that we got a free holiday and on the backside there were terms of use. Just have to pay the flight by myself.

Have anyone ever been on a holiday after winning this price? or ahve anyone ever gotten something else than the holiday, like the money or the camera?

I've read that people said that they had booked their holiday, but I never got to know how it went. Could this not be bullshit and just a second try to get us to sign with them? giving us a free hotel stay for a week.

It would be nice if it isn't bullshit... But im not totally convinced that it's pure bullshit...not yet anyway.

After 7 hours we signed up on the basis that they has 100's of destinations - this is evidently untrue. We expressly said that we prefer going to different destinations each year. They have repeatedly ignored our requests for information on themselves and the details of our contract. Consequently we have said we want nothing more to do with them - now they are threatening to sue me for the price of the contract. Firstly if they were so confident of their product why would they want such a disgruntled person as myself as a client, if they were so confident why lie?

I was totally mis-sold a product, does anybody out there know where I stand (she lied to 3 of us) - HELP PLEASE would be eternally grateful

Lion Resorts - whilst in Paphos earlier this year we were approached by two English people with scratch cards. To cut along story short we won a prize and were taken to the Lion Resorts sales office in Paphos. We were told several times that this was not a time share and they just wanted our opinion on the new resort they were building in Paphos. Some how we are still not sure exactly how and after a number of hours we ended up signing up to a holiday club which they said was operated through RCI. We ended up paying around £2750 there and then on our Visa card as they said if we didn't sign up there and then we could not be able to join the club. We were also offered a free weeks holiday at a lion resorts property later in the year.
After leaving the office and reviewing the paper work serious doubts began to set into ours minds. We looked up Lion Resorts on the internet and were horified by the comments we found on the internet regarding Lion Resorts.
We immediately contacted the credit card company to try and stop the payment they told us this was not possible at first. We then spoke to a person at the card company who dealt solely with complaints about such holiday club and time share companies. He advised us to put in writimg we wished to cancel the agreement with Lion Resorts and send this by recorded delivery to them. Aslo send a copy of the letter to the credit card company. The card company then suspended the payment and said Lion Resorts would have to prove they were not a time share company as you have 14 days under EU law to cancel a time share agreement. They try and get around this rule by calling it a holiday club. We also instructed solicitors to act on our behalf. After a long wait the payment was cancelled by the card company and we had a lucky escape!! But time is very important here you must act straight away if you have any chance of getting your money back don't wait until you get home it will probably be too late by then. Hope this helps others in a similar situation.

Hi there
Sadly we took up a 'FREE accomodation' offer that we apparently won online. We bought our own flights to Sharm el Sheik and paid for an extra weeks accomodation with Lion Resorts. We were meant to be staying at the 5 Star Tamra Beach Resort but ended up in a 3 star hole of a place call the Creative Mexicana which ia appalling and not what we paid for!!! Needless to say nobody is claiming any responsibility for not telling us of this change of accomodation before we left the UK. Thank goodness we paid by card so I will be contacting my card company when I get home. As for Lion Resorts, yes their reps are out there touting for business at this hotel everyday and yes we have listened to the patter but we are not fooled. Thank god for this website!!

Hi every one who has joined Lion Resorts. my partner and I joined 3years ago, while we were waiting to complete the final payment we were very upset as I take it some of you are from what you have written. My advise to you is to take your first Holiday then make your mind up when you are there and dont listen to others as each person has a different view. That is individuality!! We went to cypress to the new Capitol coast resort, which was still being finished they are now extending this hotel. Lion resort as a company have joined the Kouroushi brothers who are the richest company in the Greek and Cypress islands. We have alway's paid £3/400 each person for a basic room for two weeks. It was one room with a toilet the air con was rubbish and nothing to do except go out or be bored. Now that we are over the initial traumer of "Oh no what have we done"? we are looking forward to our next 8weeks any were we want to at to same Qaulity as we were origianally given which was 5 star. We had 2 bed rooms one large living area and 2 bathroom and 1 separate toilet in a new hotel with lovely pools gym pool bars sauna jucuzzi computer and sky Tv with all english free veiw stations.Good sun bathing facilities and bed towels no charge just leave them on the bed and ask for a new one next day. The staff were mostly english but those that weren't were english speaking. We had our share of free wine and meals. they also do cheep credit for people who cant afford to pay all at once, this is done by Barclay's bank of scotland. There is also an RCI membership for any one wishing to join. which mean extra cheep holiday's for friends and family and your selves. I am a sceptic but I am pleased that I persivered with it and ignored every one else. Off course holiday plans change just like any thing else you can buy. When we were there, There was a young couple who had paid £2000 for a week with some one else, that we paid £1500 for 2 weeks for with Lion Resorts. Come on folks dont be a load of sheep explore if you have been done down then I'm sorry that it happened to you but, contact Head office its only in London. :) GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU. It does take a bit of getting used to when you feel that you have signed your right arm away, Lion resorts give you 14 day's to change your mind before you finalise the contract. I hope this helps a few of you at least. :)Cypress has four to choose from no one appears to have had a problem with Cypress the problems are all in one area. and maybe customers should contact London they may need to make some changes. These reps make alot of money They are on more than us and Lion Resorts need to know how they are giving them a bad name. the reps we new own houses that they couldnt afford to buy here. Please contact London head office. Its not the old time share but is time share with freedom if use properley.

I wish that I had come across this site 18 months ago.I have had 3 holidays with Lion and each one has been a nightmare.
I have just returned from Sharn with Lion and spent the last 2 days of our holiday were spent in 3 Police Stations because the bus driver from THE MEXICANA tried to abduct my 8 year old daughter.
The only 'help' I got from the Lion 'Rep' was the phone number to the British Embassey.
We have had to hire an Egyptian Lawyer at a cost of £500GB to make sure the man goes to court.
Contacted Lion - could not give a dame.
Lion just want your money and when they have it it's thanks and good bye.
All I can say is GET YOUR MONEY BACK(if you can)
Hpoe this helps - Alan.

I have read loads of complaints about this company and I can tell you that yes, it is one big con.How do I know? you might ask.Well I have a family member that work for these con men. All this with the scratch card "Oh you won a prize" I cant belive that people are so stupid to be drawn in by this con, what the people dont know is that every single one of those scratch cards is in fact a winner, its just a ploy to get people to go and claim the prize and this is when the interagation starts for you to sign and part with your hard earned cash.

It seems we have been duped by Lion Resorts holiday club in Cyprus. It was unfortunate for us that the hotel we were staying in was not very nice so visiting their hotel was a palace after we so called won the top prize on a scracth card.We signed up for their scheme very foolishly and have so far lost £1012 which I paid on my credit card.I contacted the compay while I was in Cyprus as I had sleepless nights worrying about what we had done.I could not afford it and the more we read the contract it was more than we would have paid for a holiday anyway. We just got carried away, with little time to give an answer. We have hopefully managed to cancel the loan to pay for the 3 year contract which was with Barclays bank, well put it this way we have had no paperwork from them.Lion resorts keep saying they will refund the money and keep quoting 10 days this has been going on since last October.Help is there any other way of recovering our money.Do you know if I can claim from the credit card that we used ?

We got conned into Lion Resorts last July 2008,same way everyone else on this site has, in Cyprus. Went to the hotel looked around and thought it seemed really good deal, we asked the Lion rep if they do All inclusive as this is the way we prefer to go every year, last year was first time in self catering & Cyprus was so expensive. The rep told us "Yes, you can upgade to all inc".
Last week we were trying to book 'free week!' and was told the hotels in Cyprus don't do all inc, therefore we have been mis-sold. Came accross this site as well last week, wished I had found earlier. Have sent e-mail to Lion to cancel membership and for refund due to mis-selling. Have also stopped my payments, anybody got any advice?

Well I went on one of these presentation things with my partner about 18 months ago at the Malama Holiday Village in Cyprus with Lion Resorts. Ok yeah it seemed to be a bit of a con a first the way they get you in off the strett but after spending a few hours there it was quite appealing. In the end we parted with £2995 and its the best thing I have ever done. In the last 18 months we've been to Aruba, California, Las Vegas, South of France and the 2 holidays that are included. The fact is that the rest of you proberly dont actually know how to use it properly. Yopu are all missing out on great holidays plus They are all 5 star!!!!! for hell of a lot cheaper than you paying to go 2 or 3 star. Aruba for example for 2 weekas 5 star was £1450 total price for 2 of us. Now beat that in a any high street store. Come on guys just give them a chance it does work. Post some positive comments on here from now on guys
