Hi Blueye
My partner and I have been well and truely set up. We joined Lion Resorts during a 'freebie' trip to Sharm having been caught the previous year in Paphos and shown round the Aliathon Hotel. The apartments looked great and when we stayed in Sharm the apartment there was good althought we were told it wans't up to the standard for members. We joined what we thought was a holiday club purely because we wanted to continue our holidays in executive apartments as opposed to hotel rooms. This was in march 2007 and we were advised to wait until September to book a holiday to Thailand then to activate our membership with Interval International. I didn't think we would ever be fooled. Having put down our deposit we came home and I checked the hotels in Thailand detailed in the brochure we had been given, wasn't over impressed but having contacted them about the accomodation available was sent a letter to confirm that we could stay in one of the resort bungalows. We paid our money for the 3 years and after of summer holdiay last year sort to book our Thailand holiday. And you've probably guessed it, Lion resorts no longer dealth with this hotel, but it took us 4 months and dozens of calls to find this out. The other accommodation available was just hotel rooms. We have no contract and we have never activated our membership to Interval. We are now going for a refund and I have found the information from other members of this forum very informative. Has anyone manged to get a refund yet? and having found the address of the registered office in Peterborough has anyone managed to find out who the managing directors are? Also when other members have written for their refunds have they done so to Peterborough, Cyprus or both? Any information would be much appreciated.

To all people posting here - check out the Freedom Vacation Network thread. There is a huge amount of information there which will apply to Lion.

we also were misled i believe into signing up for a leisure passport for lion resorts when we were in egypt this new year. we didnt pay any money then, but signed up to pay it over 3 yrs.

since returning home my daughter who is a travel consultant looked into them, and they are a time share company. something they denied when we asked them. i feel we have been totally misled, so i have told them that i will not be giving them a penny. and i will gladly go to court .

i havent heard anything else yet {been 4 days} i will keep you posted.

While holidaying in Egypt, we were taken to a hotel in Sharm.

We were given lunch and paid 100 deposit, paying the remaining balance in July 2007.

We enjoyed a fantastic 'free' holiday in Tsivili, Zante.in September

However, that seems to be the last we have heard.
I have phoned Cyprus on several occasions , promising that they would now send password, membership number and brochure so we could book via Interval international.

Reading other peoples comments makes worrying reading

I would appreciate comments from people who have had the 3 yr membership for a few years now and what their experiences have been

hi blueye
this is my first time on here. we came back from pathos in oct, having parted with 1800 to lion resorts. i have been actively searching the internet to find our venue for this years holiday. we have 3 young children, one of which is disabled. i was not enjoying the choice of the lion resorts hotels, when i stumbled across your reviews. i like many others, thought i wouldnt be conned by time share. infact when we were stopped on the way to the water park i immediately replied "not interested in time share". she then gave us the scratch card and said we were the first to have won the holiday, as most only win a amount of money (wish i d only won some money now).
Anyway how are you getting on with the refunds from the credit card company?

I have just spoken to my CC company to find out what is happening with the dispute for the 300. They have received a letter from Lion to say that I signed a document ,which supposedly said that there was no cancellation policy!! Lion have sent the same copy of the document as I did. Only they didn't send them the back page, as I have stating the cancellation policy. I am now waiting for a letter from my cc company, whcih I should have had in December! I then have to let them know that I am still wishing to continue with the dispute. Its a lot of hassle but I am going to see it through. I don't see why people should be allowed to trick others like this and then act as if they are ligit.
Will let you know what happens next. I sent my cancellation letters to two addresses I have in Cyprus. They were the only addresses I had.

I have just been told by my cc company that I will not be able to claim back the 300 that I paid to the company. Seemingly the credit card slip that I signed had "non refundable" typed on it!! What a swizz! Well it will learn me a lesson. I hope someone manages to succeed with this some day.

If it's not on YOUR copy of the credit card slip then can they prove that it was typed on their copy BEFORE you signed it? If it was a multi-part slip it should have been on all the copies.

I will need to find my copy first! I hadn't thought of that.
