MJD Agency

Please has anyone had any dealings with MJD Agency for selling a Timeshare. They approached me saying they could sell my Timeshare without any cost to me. They now say they have a buyer and they want a 1200 euro 'holding deposit' until the money for the sale is in my bank and I have sent the deeds. They this is to ensure that the deeds are sent. I don't know if they are a genuine company or not and I am loath to part with my bank details.
Has anyone sold their timeshare this way?

They don't have a buyer and they just want your 1200 euros. Classic scam - and what they are actually going to land you with is an agreement to market your timeshare - not a sale. That's how they get to keep the money. They are at www.mjdagencyes.com

Have a look at
http://www.timesharetalk.co.uk/forum/to ... C_ID=10038

This suggests that you look at their Terms and Conditions so I will show the relevant ones here. Bear in mind that the 'purchaser' ALWAYS fails to complete as there isn't one.

2. MJD act solely as agents and as such cannot be held responsible or liable in the event that the purchaser fails to complete. Should this be the case MJD will continue to market the ownership for the contract period of one year.

3. During the contract period MJD and any associated company guarantee to provide an offer (within the price parameters overleaf), either from an individual or a corporate entity. Should the offer be refused MJD will be deemed to have completed its liability to this contract, however the marketing will continue for the full duration of the contract, and the client will be notified of any other offers.

(3) lets them keep the money because they can throw any kind of offer at you.

4. If this contract is rescinded on by you for any reasons, notice can only be accepted by recorded post within a 7 day period. A cover charge of 20% will be held from monies returned by MJD to cover administration costs incurred by ourselves.

4) is unlawful

You see what I mean?

In any event - ALL the people who cold-call with a proposition are out to get you - and don't respond to a small-ad or to ETOO.

Thanks for the reply, it only confirms my own thoughts. We have suggested that we place the deeds with our solicitors until the money is through which they say will be in about 4-6 weeks. She says she will make enquiries. It will be interesting to see what she comes up with!
I have no intention of paying the 1200 euros.
Thanks again.

Ask them for a 1200 Euros deposit to ensure their buyer completes.

Then watch them disappear.
