Hi
Can someone please help!
Just been on this site and read all the things that dwvc are up to.
Just been "conned" by them today. Saw an advert in the paper to sell my DRI
points and had an appointment today. Very good at convincing me to hand over my points, with the prospect of cash back in 51 mths.
Haven't hand over any money but have given them and signed my points certificates.
Since reading this have phoned and texted them saying I want out and my points back!!
Where do I stand on this?

To answer your question - as mentioned in several places on this forum DRI do not permit the sale of points in this way and ILG/ DWVC know that very well indeed. Write to them by Special Delivery saying that you will not be proceeding as you have become aware that Diamond points may be sold only member to member. Require the immediate return of your points. Deal with them only in writing and not on the phone. If they say that there is a non-cancellable contract for DWVC and you owe them money - ignore them and come back here to tell us. At that point you should also make a complaint to Trading Standards. You are very fortunate if you have not given them money. If they got your card number off you check with the provider immediately.

Hi,
We too have been daft enough to get roped into what appears to be a scam with Incentive Leisure. In December I had a phone call stating that, as we were looking to sell our timeshare, it would be a good idea pay a visit to a resale agent where we could meet people face to face rather than all the discrimate telephone calls offering this that and the other. This seemed a good idea as he said they had a local office so I wouldn't have to travel far either. I asked him what the name of his company was and he said that he wasn't sure what they were called because the firm he worked for were merely used to set up interviews and all he had was a list of people to contact. He said that a letter of confirmation would arrive in the post. That letter did arrive booking us in for Thursday 8th January 2009 at an address in Portishead.
The night before our appointment I decided to Google the company so got the letter out. I then realised that there was NO company name on the letter. It just stated the date and time of the appointment with a telephone number to ring in case of cancellation. There was also a map attached giving us directions but still no company name. We decided to go along anyway as we had both booked the day off from work and thought it worth checking out. When we got there it all looked open and above board with proper "shop" front etc. and so we went in. They took the map and letter away from us on entering but I took the letter back and put it in my bag. The map had gone missing however!
Anyway, to cut a long story short (you've heard it all before in these pages) we went there with a consideration of selling our timeshare and somewhere in between everything went pear shaped and we ended up signing up to their deal. Their main selling points were that (and I don't recall seeing this bit of spiel throughout the forum) that our timeshare would become a liability to our family as it would be transferred over to them on our death and our family would become liable for the maintenance fees forever. We were very worried about this prospect because we wouldn't want to invoke such a commitment on our loved ones. Of course there was also the added carrot of the Reclaim certificate. When we asked if we could take the offer away to think about it we were told that the Reclaim certificate offer would not be valid if we did not sign up there and then and it would be unlikely that we could get rid of the timeshare anywhere else. Anyway we foolishly signed up for the deal and paid £2,099 deposit by credit card from a total bill of £7,495. The remainder has to be paid within 14 days (by 22nd January I believe).
Of course, when I got home I Googled the name and came up with this blog which put us in a state of panic. I rang my credit card company to stop the payment but they said that it had already gone through so they couldn't do anything about it, although when I explained the circumstances they said that if I wrote into their disputed payments section they would look into it, although they could not promise anything.
The next day I tried to ring Citizens Advice but couldn't get hold of anyone as they only answer phone calls on a Thursday(?). I rang my credit card company again because I was concerned that this company had kept my details and may try to take out more money from the account. I had my credit card stopped to be on the safe side.
I am thinking of writing a letter of cancellation, but I am aware that as such no cooling off period was offered and it would appear from the OFT website that none is needed if the contract is signed on the business premises. I hope there is some way around this because I think it ridiculous that someone can sell you something by telling a lot of untruths - surely this is misrepresentation and as such would make any contract void? The reason I say untruths is that I have contacted my timeshare company and asked them if my timeshare will be automatically transferred to my family upon my death making them responsible for the fees. They told me that this was definitely not true and my family would only gain ownership if I transferred them over. They also said that I could relinquish my ownership at any time but that, if I really wanted to forego my membership that a better option would be to sell it. Oh dear, we were really taken for a ride weren't we!
I will try to read all the communications in the forums on Incentive Leisure to see what steps I should best take but there are so many unhappy "customers" and experiences that it may take me a while to get the right information and take the appropriate steps for my own circumstances.
Any initial help would be greatly appreciated as I've just downloaded about 100 pages to read!
Thanks in anticipation!

Hi
Sorry for using wrong thread.
Could you please advise me what to put in the letter to DWVC.
Didn't hand over any credit card details, did however do an on-line tesco loan request with the guy whilst there and awaiting a reply for a loan of £8500.
Obviously will not accept or fill the direct debit details to enable the loan to go ahead.
Is it worth giving dri a phone call?

Hi,
My wife and I have recently returned from Albufeira in Portugal, during our stay we were approached by a person promoting timeshare. This involved a lengthy 3 hr presentation at CPO where they were trying to sell us timeshare points through Infiniti/RCI. We were offered 40,000 Points for £9,995.00 and in addition to pay yearly maintenance and membership fees. We signed with the understanding of 14 days cooling off time and we have sent our cancellation slips out by recorded delivery as a precaution as we are trying to find feedback regarding this set up.
So far we haven't been able to find any feedback whether positive or negative and we are hoping that there might be someone on this forum who might be able to tell us more. Our 14 days cooling period ends on Friday 16th January so you can see why we chose to cancel rather than risk getting ourselves involved in something that we might regret at a later date.
Any feedback would be most appreciated and welcome.
Many Thanks Loadrunnner2020

We have 2 week timeshare to sell and was contacted by ETOO that told us they had a client wanting these weeks, we paid the money (£850) for which they sais was to stoop us selling to another company but would get this back in our total from buyers.
NEVER heard from them again until we get a call to say our timeshare is worth nothing now but we can sign it over to concierge and still have holidays, was not interested in this as we wanted to sell for what we can get for it, glad we never as a rip off company, but we was still stung for the £850, has anyone else had this ?
Also does anyone know of the company called NATIONAL TIMESHARE HELPLINE ? they have just approached us but don't want any money they said they get commision of the buyers, how true is this ? we have to go to maidenhead to do paperwork !!!! not sure
