Perfect Leisure - Free Holiday is this a scam?

Won a free holiday? Suspicious? This is the place for you!

Hospitality Scotland (sounds almost official - isn't) - the sole point of the questionnaires is to collect names and addresses plus the personal information, income &c, which lets them know immediately if you are worth targeting. It certainly is not a competition and is purely to deliver potential victims to the Fly/buy generators.

norma h,glasgow

Hi had a call on Monday to tell me we had won a holiday which I had filled in a competion entry at the Vitality Show in Glasgow.

Advised that it was not Timeshare, no hassle just a relaxing holiday and "word of mouth recommendations to friends and family was all they wanted in return"

Booked to go to Duchally on July 29th for presentation of paperwork and some nibbles and refreshments. A4 form arrived today and extra 29 pp tax mentioned which I do not remember being told at time of the 40.50 admin charges.

Searched for the web site and came across this one. Do we go or not?

Has anyone actually gone on one of the holidays and is it "FREE" as advised ?

Hi Mr Woods,
I work for a reputable timeshare company ( club la costa) and we pay a company called Hospitality scotland to refer people to us. The holiday IS a genuine holiday however you must sit through a timeshare presentation to receive the holiday. You are under no obligation to buy and I pride myself in not using pressure tactics to sell our product. I believe the product sells itself although it doesnt suit everyone. Dont be afraid to go and if you dont like what they sell just say no. You WILL receive your holiday.

garpeters,

are you for real? Timeshare's/holiday clubs are one big scam, why the hell do you or anyone want to work for a scumbag company like that??

People are gullible (unfortunately) and should really know better, you ****** these people over for a quick buck.

What happens at these "meetings" is pure harrassment, pure and simple.

One day, the law will actually work in favour of the general public and rid everyone of the filth that you are!!

Your comments are appreciated and you are blatantly lying through your teeth in your post.............

MT replies:

1: No pressure? People here HAVE been pressured as you'll see if you read their posts.

2: Really? If it sells itself why is it sold so agressively?

Like others have said, this is just a timeshare by another name to sidestep timeshare legislation and you are like all of them, a bare-faced lier trying to con impressionable people out of their hard-earned cash.

Anyway, thanks folks, I started getting calls from the agressive Scottish woman after filling-out a form at the Bingley show. At the show I thought 'Hospitality Scotland' was part of the Scottish Tourist Board trying to encourage people to visit Scotland, so I smelt a rat when I got a call offering a 'free' holiday in Turkey, Spain, Austria or the Canary Islands.

Needless to say I'll enjoy quoting a few things you folks have posted to the aggressive Scottish woman next time she phones me... if she declines to accept my kind offer to accept a cheque for the value of the '2,000' holiday minus the admin charges. Once she's gone, as she no doubt will once she realises I'm not a gullible cretin, I'll enter Hospitality Scotland's details on the Telephone Preference Service's complaint form to ensure that they don't bother me again.

I received a call on Thursday from "Hospitality Scotland" and as I was at work they told hubby they would phone back after 6pm. They didn't. After googling I too thought they were something to do with Visit Scotland (Scottish Tourist Board) However they phoned back yesterday (Friday) again hubby told them I was at work and wouldn't be home until after 6pm. The man said he would phone back at which point hubby told them they said that yesterday.

Hubby asked what is was about and the man was quite rude and said he couldn't discuss it with him!! Hubby explained he was my husband and he could take a message to which the rude man said "how do we know that" The only thing they said was it was something I had done on the internet.

Just waiting for the call now, and I will play it one of 2 ways. I will either be extremely rude, or string them along and at the end tell them I am unemployed, living in B & B accommodation with 10 kids all from different fathers all who have left me!!!! :-)

Phew, thank god I read this before I made a big mistake! Me and my mum filled out a form at the Braehead Wedding Fair last week and I just got a call from Hospitality Scotland to tell me I had been a runner up and had to go to Duchally which she told me was in Stirling. I live in Ayrshire and we were supposed to go on a weekday evening, thank god we didn't waste our time.

I think it's awful that these companies can get stalls at reputable wedding fairs and blatantly lie about their intentions. We are saving for our wedding and she insinuated to me we could use it for our honeymoon as it was within 18 months! What a con, I will be posting about this on the wedding forums that I use to make sure o one gets stung.

Thanks everyone for your comments,

M xxx

I too was contacted a couple of weeks ago by Hospitality Scotland. They got my details when I entered a competition at the Taste Festival in Edinburgh. Companies like Hospitality Scotland take advantage of events like Taste, as consumers believe that an event like this would not be associated with such an organisation.

I must admit that the operator who contacted me did a very good job of sounding genuine and she almost seemed happy that I had allegedly 'won a runner-up prize'!

I got them to send out the information, so I could check them out on the Internet and this site being the first I found.

My favourite part of the crap that they send out is the small leaflet with a fuzzy picture of the BBC's Jenny Bond. She is not giving a recommendation, it is just a picture of her. Bizarre.

These people are crooks and as numerous others on this forum have pointed out, if it seems too good to be true - it is.

Thanks to you all for your feedback on this website...got THE phone call today and was a bit surprised! Didn't even remember entering a competition...I thought it was a scam but still wanted to believe that for once I had won something...
Fortunately,I had the common sense of asking them for their website and this is how I found out about this very dubious trading company.

Thanks to you all ,I shall be turning them down on their next call.
