RECLAIM certificate holders (who received their certificates through Club Class) are being called to say that the Spanish government have frozen the assets of Reclaim and that payment will be made by the government. They are then asked to make a bank transfer payment for Spanish taxes so that the money can be released.
This is a con and another symptom of what is wrong with the Holiday Club trade. If approached do not enter a conversation ring off immediately.
It would be interesting to know which member of staff at Club Class or Reclaim stole (or was given) the client list to run this scam.

RECLAIM CERTIFICATES New scam warning
I have receiced numerous calls of this nature and told them I wasn't intersted. They seem very suprised at the fact that I didn't want to give them 800 to get my 5000 back even inviting me out to Madrid to do the deal in person.
I had already seen warnings from prevoius research regarding "Reclaim" on the intenet warning of these cold calls just before the Reclaim certificate is due to mature. I must admit I'm not too hopeful of getting anything back but at the same time not willing to lose any more money and told them that on the phone. No calls since suprisingly...
I paid my deposit with my credit card so I'm holing to go down that route should it all go horibly wrong

Take my advice and make a formal complaint to the ECC- contact details attached:
Relaciones Pblicas (Public Relations)

Prncipe de Vergara, 54

Tel: + 34 91 822 45 67

The more complaints they receive, the more likely this organisation can take some firm action against these scam operators that emerge from the woodwork to try and dupe the unsuspecting into parting with yet more hard-earned euros/pounds. Like so many on this and other forums, the so-called legal experts who claim to be able to recover the other 85% + of the funds that have been promised are operating their own scam. As if further proof is required (and this has been posted previously on another thread),please read the following:
This is a reply which I received last month.
The Canary Islands Government, its Department of Tourism or its public company Promotur Turismo de Canarias are in no way associated with any private company involved in timeshare or holiday club activity. Neither have we authorised any company to represent us or provide any kind of solutions or compensation for alleged fraud caused by companies involved in the aforementioned activity.
We recommend that any measures or actions you may wish to undertake as the result of fraudulent action by any such companies should be carried out through the legal system, with the appropriate professional advice. You should also be wary of any kind of offers of assistance or refund as mentioned in your e-mail.

(I should add that I made this enquiry in relation to a bogus claim made by Club Class Holidays on a piece of their promotional material + a call made by Pearl Consultants and several others to help me recover my Reclaim 'pledge').
Again, you might want to contact the above organisation-any bona fide organisation that genuinely and legitimately works to uphold the good name of the islands' tourism would be appalled to hear that there are unscrupulous operators blatantly plying their dishonest trade and clearly deserving nothing more than being shut down by the authorities.

RECLAIM CERTIFICATES New scam warning
Had A call yesterday from a solicitors office in Cordoba Spain informing me that I will be getting my money back from a reclaim Certificate that was bought in conjunction with Dinistia Resort LOS CHRISTIANOS Tenerife. Dinistia basically sold us something that has not materialised which was a criminal offence. This is because the government will be paying out as Dinistia do not have the money.I told them I was not interested. They told me that they do not want money up front & that their fee would be 500 euros. That would be paid once I received the cheque.I am waiting for a phone call.
Correction just had the phone call.Cheque is in the post being delivered by ups.Very nice solictor, warned me never to deal with timeshares again as these people are nasty and not pleasant to fight against. No mention of payment yet.I will make sure that the cheque clears before any money is paid indeed if any. Will let you know what happens.

Happy camper - this is a scam. There is no reason whatsoever why "the Government" should pay out. Would the UK Government pay out on a UK scam? They would not.
This seems to be a new variation - usually they ask for "tax" up front.
"Cashback" funds hold only approximately 10% of the total face value of the certificates. They do not and cannot ever hold 100%.
Overseas cheques can be bounced for several weeks after they appear to have cleared. By this time you will have been pressed to make the payment to them.
If they were legitimate they would take the fee from the payment.
Can you give the name, address and if available phone numbers? If you have had bank account details for the payment which you are to make could you please give them.

I have just posted a reply but it seems to have gone missing. Try again.
These people are Bufete Fernandez Garcia Hutchinson & Socios. They are not solicitors, they are full-time scammers. Their web site has been lifted from a genuine firm www.advocatia.net Compare parts of them. The phone number quoted by you as well as the phone and fax numbers on their site are mobile numbers which, for a genuine legal firm, would be unthinkable. If they are anywhere near Cordoba I would be very surprised. There is information on Timesharetalk.
You are being set up by experts. There is no question of this.
I think that you may find that tomorrow there is a "problem" with sending the cheque. If there is would you let us know what it is said to be.

We have received a telephone call from TVTravelShop.TV asking us to take a free holiday and pay 169 up front to meet with a consultant, on behalf of the Reclaimers, who will collect all the paperwork and make sure it reaches the correct place on the correct day, even though ours is 3 years in the future. Do you think this yet another scam?

This is Continental Alliance - Travel Group. Web site
www.tvtravelshop.tv/
The sole purpose of getting you there is to sell you membership of a holiday club. That is what the company does. If it isn't this scam it is "come to tenerife and we will buy your timeshare". They have no interest whatsoever in helping with your Reclaim. What could they do? Phone you up on the day when you should post it?
I presume that you are aware that you are guaranteed either 6% or 10% of th face value of your certificate and, even if you do everything right, that (or a very little bit more) is all that you are going to get. Hardly worth a trip to Tenerife even if they were going to do anything.

No we did not realise until we saw a TV programme on timeshare scams. Has anyone not yet found a way to reclaim all the money? Any advice?
