RECLAIM Certificate - have you got one?

Postby dumbo1 on Sun Apr 27, 2008 6:30 am

We have used them for one holiday, but a few times when I have tried to book they have said their is no availability. One of the main attractions of joining DWVC was the fact that they would take our points from us and they would pay the maintenence fees so the cost we were paying for a membership acutally out ways the cost we would pay over the next 15 years in maintenence fees with our points. Do you know if this is legitimate? Has anyone actually done this and got rid of their points for good. I do not want to have two products where I am paing for maintenence on one and have forked out 8k on the other for nothing.

RECLAIM Certificate - have you got one?

Dumbo - You won't get worthwhile, if any, discounts and it is a pound to a pinch of snuff that you could better anything offered by doing it yourself.

I doubt very much if they have really taken over your points and you almost certainly still own them. Have you actually got any paperwork signed by these people saying that they have bought them, or even that they will pay all future maintenance fees - or did they just say they had? If it isn't in writing signed by the company it hasn't happened. You will not get your money back through Reclaim. Seriously.

RECLAIM Certificate - have you got one?

Its unbelievable how these people can just lie, I suppose it's my own fault for being sucked in!! In the paper work it says they can offer holidays at net prices, but it is obviously all lies I just can't believe how they can get away with it and rip so many people off. We do not have anything in writing saying that they have bought our points from us just what they told us, but I haven't given them my points certificate as yet, they said I could forward it on when we paid the balance which I do not intend to do after seeing all the threads on this site!!!

Sukie - read my post on 3rd April above. It is quite possible to receive nothing and next to impossible to get more than 10% of what you expect. I presume that you did not just sell your VIP points but also bought into DWVC.

RECLAIM Certificate - have you got one?

Fred 2, I would just like to say a huge thank you for all your advice. I am in the process of cancelling my membership and am going to see CAB tomorrow. Do you know of anyone who has actually been able to cancel their membership with Sundance (DWVC). I saught further legal advice from consumers south west and they stated that becuase we signed the contract with the no cooling off clause in the companys own business premises that it was binding. Do I have a leg to stand on with regards to gross misrepresentation by the company with regards to Reclaim and lies about holidays at Net cost etc?

Dumbo - Consumers Southwest should know better. The contract is legal and binding with no cooling-off period as it was signed on business premises. That seems to be as far as they can see, but it misses the point completely. It is the fact that you were induced to sign it by fraud which is the issue that they should be addressing and I am surprised that they do not appear to comprehend this.

It is this point which you need to emphasise when seeing CAB. They should be more understanding.

RECLAIM Certificate - have you got one?

Postby Dopey on Sun May 04, 2008 12:51 pm

Hi Fred.
We too went to a presentation in Exeter run by sundance. My first gut feeling was to walk out and i so wish I had. We weren't interested in the holiday club, but just wanted to get rid of the timeshare. Unfortunately we signed up just to get rid of it, as we were promised that we would get 100% of the reclaim certificate back in 51 months as long as we followed the procedure. I hated everything about the presentation, and am feeling gutted. It cost us 8995, with the promise of getting back 26500.
It was only when I logged into DWVC yesterday and saw your websight, that the terrible truth became all too apparent. I immediately phoned Mel at Sundance and told her that I was stopping the cheque. She took my number and told me she would get her boss to phone me back. Sure enough a lady called tracey roberts phoned me back assuring me once more that If I followed procedure I would get my full 100% cashback. tracey roberts was from timelinx. I asked why all these accusations of them being con merchants were on a reputable sight like holiday watchdog. and her reply was that the sight is owned by thompsons and it is full of people who didnt follow correct procedure, and it was sour grapes. I wasn happy with anything she said and told her I was stopping the cheque until I had done much more research on timelinx, dwvc, and sundance holidays uk. We were most definately misled and misold.
