Hi,

Can't say I've heard of them, but the obvious question is how much will this lifetime membership cost?

It's not really "winning" if they then try to get a few hundred/thousand quid a year out of you, so might be worth finding out what the catch is.

Oooh I'm feeling cynical!

I like it... "Hi, you have won the right to pay me money". Doesn't sound like a very good prize to me.::roll:

if u aint sure then get in touch with your local trading standards council then they will check them out and if it is a scam which it more than likely is then they will report them and close them down but they will still resurface to try and con ppl under another name tho im sure :@

This is definately a scam - one that I unfortunately have fallen for!

I recieved the same phone call and at first was very sceptical, however it appeared to check out - where they said they had got my name from was right (I did enter a prize draw at the hotel that they said) and they allowed us time to think it over plus offered to answer any questions we might have.

The main question that we had (which we asked 3 times) concerned the staelment in the contract "Accomodation starts from 99 per week." I assumed that once a member the price would go through the roof. However, we were told (3 times) that the 99 was the price of a 1 bedroom apartment, and that the '..from 99' was for the price increase for larger apartments.

Eventually, after being reassured on this point, we agreed to join. I then tried to book a weeks holiday in the lake district. They took my details and agreed to ring me back the following day with details of our holiday. The call never came, but as it wasn't at the forefront of my mind (work, family etc. had pushed past it) it was 6 days before I rang to check the status of my reservation.

Imagine my suprise when I was told it would cost me 849. I asked to speak to someone in customer services immediately, but was told that they were busy and would ring me back that afternoon. Predictably the call didn't come and so the following morning I rang them and demanded my money back. Again I was told that they would need to speak to a manager and they would call me back - again they didn't call.

The following day (today) I rang them and again demanded my money back - however, this time I was told that now, as the 7-day cooling-off period was over, a refund is 'not an option.'

To say that I am annoyed is an understatment, mainly at myself for allowing my family to be taken in like this. I can only hope that my bad luck/stupidity will be of benefit to others in helping them not to fall for this scam.

The Travel Emporium is basically a search engine - they will search for accomodation and will arrange it for you - nothing more nothing less. If you have access to a computer (or even a phone TBH) you could do the same thing yourself.

Hi Gillc
Also got a phone call from The Travel Emporium, saying that I've won a lifetime holiday. (but I have not entered anything, so how could I have won)then a letter sent from Spain there operating from a office in Malaga. They said I have won a lifetime membership valued at just over 6000euros which is lots of vouchers for several different things. And that I have to pay a one off fee of 649euros and then 99euros for each holiday I take.

For anyone who knows about timeshare that sounds awlfully cheap for a lifetime offer (make me think what your actually getting for that).

Check with Companies House and contact Trading Standard before you even think about passing any money over.
