Timeshare as Investment

Won a free holiday? Suspicious? This is the place for you!

It is clear from this and other forums that timeshare weeks can be bought for relatively little 'second hand'. It is also quite clear that many people are seeking to dispose of their timeshares quickly and cheaply, just to get rid. You can see from the "we can sell your timeshare" scams exposed on this and other forums almost weekly just how desperate some are to sell their weeks at almost any price. You would therefore be foolish to assume that you can buy a timeshare and re-sell it at a profit.

Timeshares should therefore never be seen as an investment. If you are persuaded to buy for this purpose it is extremely unlikely that any promised returns will ever materialise.

Don't take my word for it. The Organisation for Timeshare in Europe which has many of the larger operators as members, prohibits those members from marketing or selling a Timeshare interest as an investment.

OTE is the leading European trade organisation, with years of experience. It must have a very good reason for including this in its Code of Conduct. It also has consumer protection arrangements for those who feel that they have a complaint against its members - or others.

Fred2,
Am I correct in thinking that a thread has gone from this forum relating to timeshares investment.
Do you know the reasons being it or are we not allowed to speak out about it anymore?

Things are removed only with good reason, or under duress. There seems to have been no good reason so.... A similar thread was removed from another site a short while ago, as you will know.

Willself - you have not read the heading posting. This thread is nothing whatsoever to do with buying a timeshare for your own use.

Willself - this thread is about the sale of TIMESHARE AS AN INVESTMENT . This thread is not about 'investing in holidays' or about taking holidays in a timeshare which may be a good thing but about the purchase of timeshare weeks with the sole object of making a financial return. The purpose of the thread is to remind anyone who might be tempted into buying blocks of timeshare with a view to resale that this may not be a good way to make money.

Clear?

and ask yourself why the certain company felt that it had become necessary to silence people.

Cheers Fred2,
This company seems very powerful and looks like they will stop at nothing. We will have to see.

Quite clearly there is a thread removal programme instigated by opertors that are based on three of Los Cristianos better quality RCI GOLD resorts where their "holiday investment programme" is pushed to unsuspecting "punters" who are duped by their "perfect presentation" using high tech spread sheets that are hype and not factual.

Do not invest in thier scheme as it will only make them money and you will certainly loose more.

Enjoy your timeshare and remove the threat from the scheming thieves that abound in the timeshare world.

Look upon your "investment" as a short term asset you will soon tire of the constant knocking from the "sales team" who will inform you of the best restaurants in town and how their interest in the various local charities makes them happy in their chosen career in Tenerife - they will tell you what you want to hear and how nice they are---- they are not...

One day they will be fully exposed and it is not far off...
