Re: The Travel Emporium

Won a free holiday? Suspicious? This is the place for you!

Suckers - no such name in Yellow Pages for Jaen. Accurate spelling probably Viviendas - nothing under that either. Odd for an Estate Agent not to be in Yellow Pages. An "English Legal Solicitor" - what other kind is there - working for them? I doubt it. Why should there be? May sound reassuring but it's Spain. They would need a Spanish one.

Tisha

you were not foolish just duped along with all the other chaps, there is a person called Neil working there and a chap called Stuart, did you eventually get your vouchers?

Keep ringing the numbers you have and you will get a response eventually, email works rather well too if you persist.

It sounds like the same chaps are still there, they were saying to my friends that they were on the island for two years at least.

If you look at your contract then you will find some numbers on there try ringing them and writing to them in Spain but send recorded delivery - takes a few days but works ok and you can track your letter through the post office. Beware not all the addresses are real they have an address in Palma that they only use for tax purposes if they actually pay any that is!
Apparently they have a legal department and it is spanish not english but anything you may get from this dept has no letter heading so how can it have any legal standing?

Good Luck

Has anyone received any money back for vouchers from Viviendas yet?
I have just had another phone call from Dianne Walters, the solicitor with this firm in Jaen, Spain. I told her I would not part with any money for taxes until I saw money in my bank account. She said my money was waiting for me in a holding account at the bank. I told her I had an appointment to see my bank manager tomorrow, but after speaking to OFT - Consumer Direct and he said I was the 19th person to have spoken to him about Travesafe Holidays that day I am beginning to wonder what is going on - are traveslafe now using another company.
I did ask Dianne Walters if anyone had gone ahead with the offer to buy the vouchers but she did not answer me only with someone she was having rouble with in England - she also told me she had seen all the remarks on this website.

What is the name of these solicitors and do you have a name for them apart from her? Do you have a telephone number for them? Spanish mobile numbers all start with "6" so it could be 0034 6xxxxxxxxxx if it is a mobile.

Jaen numbers begin with 953.

When she says the money is in a holding account at the bank is that your bank or hers? Ask her why she doesn't release it?

Ask for the name of the bank where it is held so that your bank can check.

And if by any chance you do get some money sent to you remember cheques drawn on foreign banks can take weeks to clear.

If she is waiting a payment from you tell her to go where the monkey stuffed his nuts. There has never been an example of a company asking for money up front being honest.

bianco Having been ripped off good style a few years ago by travelsafe holidays in tenerife we were more or less resigned to losing the thousands we had paid. Then a phone call from a guy called Max Carter offered me a chance to get some money back and enjoy a week in Tenerife. He says he is working with a marketing agency and the Spanish authorities to recover peoples money from Travelsafe whose assets have been frozen. The plan is for us to book flights to Tenerife before the second week in December and let him know the dates. He will arrange a weeks accommodation at a hotel, a meeting with spanish lawyers with an interpreter,at a cost of 69 per person. He reckons he is getting a 75% success rate in getting money back. Just wondered if anyone has had a similar phone offer? A weeks holiday and the chance to get money back sounds too good to be true. Just like the deal from Travelsafe in the first place. Would love to hear from anyone who has had a similar phone call, or even tried this way of recovering their money

Well,
the first I knew about the TSH 'problem' was when I was phoned by Max Carter offering me a chance to get some money back and enjoy another 'free' week in Tenerife. He told me He was working for the Spanish Government Tourist Board and a marketing agency recover peoples money from Travelsafe whose assets have been frozen. We 'invested' in TSH a couple of years ago but had not yet tried to use them, although I had always thought that it was too good to be true and that the money was as good as gone.
Especially as I have had no communication from them since I recieved the welcome pack and vouchers nearly two years ago! His plan now is for us to book flights to Tenerife before the second week in December. (Why the deadline?) He will arrange a weeks accommodation at a hotel, a meeting with spanish lawyers and interpreter, although I dont recall a cost of 69 per person.
If He is getting a 75% success rate in getting money back where are the success stories? I would love to see just one! 75% of how many??. I guess that TSH has sold our contact details to phish for more victims or is this really genuine? I kind of doubt it dont you?

It's a load of very old bull isn't it?

You would be doing everyone a great favour of you would report this, including the bit about working for the Spanish government and what he said that he could promise, with names, phone numbers &c to to Spanish Trading Standards - at this e-mail address

I got caught by Travelsafe in 2003 after paying 5995 like a complete mug. Has anybody any idea if I have any chance of getting anything back. I have never used them for a holiday as they were always unavailable or too expensive!

Please please someone tell me I have a chance of getting something back, alternatively I am going to Majorca on 29th June so their new address would be more than welcome if anyone has it.

Thanks in advance

Hi there, my husband and I were also conned into buying into travelsafe holidays. Even though we were telling each other it was too good to be true, we still paid the total amount asked for!!! I know, we were stupid!!! Anyway, we have resigned ourselves to paying off the loan for years and wil probably never get any of the promised 'payback after 3 years'.

What I would like to know is, has anyone ever been able to get any money FROM them. If so, how did you go about it?

I feel really embarrassed and stupid that we were conned so easily, and because of that, I have never made any attempts to reclaim any of our money. Any advice would be welcome.....Thanks

Mortified - when did you sign and how did you pay? Were you made a specific promise regarding what you would get from cashback?
