Has anyone heard of this company selling RCI points at Belair resort, Tenerife?

Nothing on the web. Nothing on this site or Timesharetalk. Must be new. Have you checked with RCI that they are authorised? Some aren't and you don't get the points & RCI don't get the money. No track record = avoid.

See Agalbe's post on the Travelsafe thread today. This is an old (and nasty) scam reborn.

Yes. I have checked with RCI and this resort is not an affiliated points vendor so should not be selling the points product.

They are also charging very high prices, so if you fall for their patter you will lose a lot of money. One timeshare owner paid them 3,000 to cede their timeshare weeks into the points system. RCI has no knowledge of this transaction - the money has not gone to RCI so where is it??

Apparently, they have been sent a letter before Xmas to tell them to stop but may be more serious action will be needed for them to take notice.

They are also offering so-called rescue packages to those who bought into the Carpe Diem voucher scheme (now supposedly closed down). Again this involves buying points at over-inflated prices - around 4,000 for 20,000 points!!! They have no legal right to sell these points and any contract will not be honoured by RCI.

Apparently the company is Van Gogh Promotions according to the contract that one person signed.

I see that you have posted this on Timesharetalk, which is a good idea.

May I suggest that you send the information, including that about the 3k taken from your friends, to the Spanish consumer protection authorities at
cec@consumo-inc.es

This is not just extremely bad business practice - it is theft. Your friends could if they wish make a complaint to consumo-inc. es and if they do so they could ask if it should also be reported to the police. If a credit card was involved (even for part of the deal) they should start the process to reclaim the money.

Hello there, It seems every one is a little confused and I want to say my part.
I bought 50000 points from Vangogh in November and they did say to me after completion of the deal it will take 16 weeks for my membership to arrive and it did.
Yes we were a little worried at first but they did give us 14 days to cancel and we paid the ballance one month after.

I did check with the OTE and Vangogh is under their umbrella so any one who thinks they are not doing their job properly should think again.
The staff was very helpful and they even booked us in the Vip lounge in the airport.I dont think Vangogh is the only vendor out there selling RCI points there are many others even in the uk that are worse.

Happy member.

Moderators, it might be helpful if this thread was closed, and combined with the 'Van Gogh Promotions - Tenerife' thread?
