Hi plym61
Think you'll find the £138 is the amount you pay to transfer your certificates to the new owner eg admin costs, etc.

Someone is trying to offload their timeshare on ebay. Search for item number 150353115091. However, they say the company is the Canalboat Club, but reservations are still through Abacus and the trustees are still Hutchinson & Co.
Is this the same company with yet another name and if so, it is probably not surprising they say they are expecting to sell at a considerable loss.

there has been another reorganisation with canaltime and basically they are saying that ABC Boat Management which are based in the Worcester area have taken over from Canaltime and have renamed the bits they have bought with what they already had and called it Canalboat Club.
I think that there may ctill be some form of Canaltime around but am not sure and they are only at certain marinas.
If you look at hte websites it will show more info but the new Canalboat Club is mainly based around Worcester. They have there own constitution which supersedes anything with canaltime but it does not look as if they will be sending it out to anyone so when you ask for it you have to pay. They have also moved out of nearly all of the previous marinas and moved everything to Worcester but no members had any say in it they were just told in a letter and have to lump it.The choice is not much good unless you like Worcester and Birmingham for a canal trip as you will not get much further which i think goes against them as some of the canals around Nottingham and Tamworth were good.
Time will tell but Trustees are the same as is the reservation company and if you need to contact the new company you have to do it through the reservation company just as it was with Canaltime so you can draw your own conclusions as to who is running it.

I have read this thread with interest as I too have been asked to send £138 to hand the timeshare back to Abacus...or whoever is running it.
The thing is, I paid £7,000 nearly 4 years ago and would not want to lose that. Is selling this timeshare an option? If so, what is the going rate for a red week (x 4 passangers)?

I am not sure what the going rate is so you would need to search the resale sites but having looked at some of them there are a lot of canaltime/canalboat club up for sale so your price may have to be realistic and it may not sell quick at the moment.
Worldwide timeshare hypermarket called me recently asking if i wanted to buy a canaltime for a £1 as the owners were desperate to sell.
Handing it back and paying the £138 fee may be the better option although i think you will now have to pay next years fees as it will be too late to hand it back as the invoices are about to be sent out in which case you can try to sell it and pay the fees and if you get no offers take your holiday on the boat before August next year and then hand it back.

Hi whirlwind.
I, too, am trying to get rid of a canaltime timeshare. Can you let me know how you went about it. Thanks
