who do i complain to?

we travel next tuesday to crete & our travel agent has not booked our baby into the accomodation, we have no cot (or bed) and no meals (we are all inclusive)

has not reserved the flight seats so all 5 of us (including 3 children) could be dotted all over the plane unless we arrive 4 hours before departure

have quoted us a total of £1500 but the price has risen to £1800

nobody is answering the phones or emails & and the one time they did they were rude, unhelpfull, fail to return calls when promised.

im dreading the holiday now as i cant get through to the travel agents to point out that the baby is not on the hotel booking (thankfully we have flight tickets for him)

i really dont know what to do, can i complain? if so who to?

Hi Louise,
I am afraid there is not much time left to get you an answer, so make sure you get every complaint into writing while you are away.

The flights should be ok, as I feel sure children must be seated with adults of the group, one of the other Mods may be able to confirm this, as it is a long time since I flew with children.

As the baby has been confirmed on the flight, the hotel may also have been told, even if not on booking. However I am sure they will be able to arrange a cot when you get there, keep any extra expenses occurred in writing and on your return, contact head office or TSO.
Can't help with your other enquiry, keep checking the site for replies.

thanks a lot,

after talking to Olympic/Odyssey holidays (who we are holidaying with) they told us to get in touch with ABTA who could over-ride the legal binding contract they have with imperial travel and deal with me directly.

have just spoke to ABTA and they were great, they told us to put everything in writing before i go (just so i remember everything) & top it up when i get back (if anything needs adding)

they have also gave us a different number & within 1 ring it was answered...unfortunately it was still the same rude man on the other end of the phone!!

this is the first time in 8 years i have used a travel agent........im back to the internet next year & do it all myself....less hassle!!

I agree, it so much easier doing it by yourself, and it often works out cheaper too.

DEAR LORDY........

have just returned from said holiday & what a disaster!!! the hotel was lovely...even perfect & would go back again....but....

the travel agents forgot to arrange our transferes (198 euros in taxis before we even start)

as the the baby (nearly 2 years old) wasnt booked into the hotel we had no food allowance or cot/bed (the hotel took pity on us after we explained the situation & let him have meals & drinks for free)

we were told we were on a package holiday with olymic holidays....in fact they had booked the hotel independantly so we had no rep to contact (something that i said we needed access to when booking)

when trying to sort out return transferes (calling imperial travel in england countless times & at the cost of 20 euros in calls) we still had to pay the taxi drivers at the airport another £180 euros as they were not informed of the cock up!!!

Good God - this is getting scary - I just booked & paid for a holiday to Gran Canaria, leaving on Monday 24th, through this company today, after finding them on Teletext. Strangely enough, I can no longer find any Imperial Travel adverts on Teletext and now that I have Googled them, I find this site with all these terrifying reviews.

Has anybody got anything good to say about them? Can we claim back on our Credit Company if everything goes horribly wrong?

Just had a week in Kos with Imperial. No transfers booked ( an airport rep said it was quite common for Imperial not to book them!) We asked about Kardemena but they told us Marmari would be better. Huh! No entertainment, nowhere nearby and 40 mins walk along beach to next town.
We had been told transfers were included and that there was entertainment at the apartments also that the town was "lively", It was lively for the Germans who have taken it over, but again it was a 10 mins walk across dark wasteland to get to it. We were 4 (50 something )females so walking along dark beaches or wasteland wasn't exactly safe. We ended up spending money on taxis if we wanted to go out, it was only €16 return cab fare to next town between 4 but that isn't the point.
And of course no rep as the flights and accomodation are booked separately.
We will go back to booking ourselves next year!

We have just booked a holiday to Sharm with Imperial and asked for two rooms, on our invoice it shows one room... i have called and spoken to someone at Imperial and have been assured this is standard practice to only show one room on the invoice and i definately have two rooms..... is this correct in your experience of Imperial???

I have booked four adults to go to sharm on the 31st of august, and have had trouble with imperial travel also!!! when i first phoned up after seeing a great deal on teletext they said that this was not available and wanted to charge an extra 100 pounds per person as there were no inland rooms left, when i argued that they should not advertise this if they dont have it, they rudely told me that ''i could not expect them to magic an inland room out of thin air''! so we ended up booking with them but when the bill actually arrived they had added an extra £10 on per person, which isnt that much but it still isnt what we agreed. but funnily enough imperial dont record calls so we cant listen to what was said!!

i was also surprised when we got the invoice sent through that the hotel had been booked throught the internet and all we have to say we are booked in there is a print out from the online booking!! and at the minute just a reference for the flights!!

trying to pay for it was quite hard aswell, sometimes they would do it on the 0118 number, sometimes they said we would have to call the admin dept on a premium rate number which then was closed!! so had to try call back the next day!!!!

with regards to a previous post, as far as i can remember our booking says its for 2 rooms, but that could depend on which company they have used to book the hotel.

not travelled as yet so hope all will be ok, have spoken to the airline AND emailed the hotel just to make sure everything is as agreed and it seems to be. so for now i guess it a case of keeping our fingers crossed.

oh and dont bother complaining to teletext, as i did. because they just forward what you have said, to imperial and they concoct some reason as to why they charged extra/was rude/told wrong info and wont look into it properly.

re your invoice showing only 1 room i would not be happy with this if it happend to me and would demand to have written confermation from imperial or your tour operator to show you do have the 2 rooms other wise you wouldnt have much leg to stand on with the hotel just your word against imperials

i would look online and try to get the hotels email address in reservations, and ask them if they have you booked in for one room or two. then depending on what they say forward it to imperial's email

because this is what i did for peace of mind, and i was told that the booking was ok.
