Hi,
We've recently had a holiday with XL.com, and had a very rocki start. Our flight from Manchester was cancelled and they transported us to Gatwick, so we eventually few out at 8-30 pm instead of 10 am, and didnt get to the resort till 3 am, instead of 4 pm.
By the was, our plane was fine, but the other one has broke down in the carribean, so they decided to send our plane over there.
Our transfer wasnt there (which was part of our package holiday), so we had to get a taxi.
When we tried to complain once we got home, XL would have none of it - they said that they are within their right to reschedule flights ,and wouldn't acknowledge any other issues raised.
When we tried to write to ABTA we have received a similar reply.
What I cant understand is - why should we be out of pocket - we booked a package holiday, and then had to pay extra for the transfers. Also, it was a 7 nights holiday and we lost our first day (well, half a one, but still; and also it was AI). If companies are within their rights to do this sort of thing and won't even compensate your out-of pocket expenses after all, this is absolutely shocking, I always thought that consumers had more rights.
What does everyone think? Has anyone had a similar experience?
Package holiday - are they not obliged to provide the transf

Package holiday - are they not obliged to provide the transf
Honest Answer; It will depend on what it states in your booking conditions
as all operators can be slightly different. However if you have booked the holiday including transfers most ops would still provide a transfer for you
even if it means that they re emburse you for the taxi.
Have a look at the booking conditions in the brochre , if it does not say that they are not obliged to provide you with a tranfer then i would take the matter further.
Hope this helps
