Platinum/Gold holidays

Postby Mal 54 on Thu Sep 08, 2005 12:38 pm

Thinking about going on holiday in November/early December, somewhere hot/warm just for one week, has anyone been on the platinum/gold holidays, or, has anyone any suggestions? We prefer 4/5* all-inclusive, my husband fancies Tunisia, but i'm a little unsure about Tunisia. Most of the holidays we have looked at the flight times don't meet our needs. We prefer daytime flights.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi Mother,
In the late 90's Pat and I used Thomson's Gold, although not in Tunisia but in Morocco, and they were absolutely outstanding. Comprising of 87 of the top hotels then available, we stayed in the La Badia in Marrakech, which to this day remains the best hotel we have ever stayed in.
Although not normally into organised tours, we did partake in a couple from the hotel, and they gave great value for money as well as an insight into this fascinating country.

So my advice for that few extra pounds is go for gold.

At the same time, I've used one of the travel company gold holidays and ended up in what I can only describe as a youth hostel in a hot version of blackpool. I'll check out reviews of the hotels first before I ever think about taking the word of the brochure.

Hi Tenpin and Shufty,

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. We have decided to give the Platinum/Gold holidays a miss, don't want to take any risk.

We have decided I think on Gran Canaria, Hotel Gran Canaria Princess, the reviews are very positive, has anyone stayed in this Hotel. in Playa del ingles? We hope to go the beginning of December.

I worked for Thomson for 4 years and spent many times in platinum and gold hotels and they are some of the best that thomson operate with.

They are 2 completly different things

Thomson Gold - aimed at couples who want luxery hotels, in good locatins. No Childern under 15 will be accepted by thomson. - ie Adults only!
The food in all the hotels is of expectional standard.
There will be entertainment from Thomson animation teams with a resident band and local interest advisors. This is fanstatic choice for couples of any age who want nice hotels, in nice places - all inclusive optoin available in gold hotels

Platinum - aimed at all kinds of people who want finese at an affordable price. Some of the best hotels in the best location, enhanced rep service, exectuivce check in if available in resort. The hotels are all 4 or 5 * and in excellent location. The food and cusine is all to exceptionally high standard. A very good choice if you want luxury and quality at affordable prices - again all inclusive avaialbe if you wish. - Platinum, does except familys!

Thomson also offer Al la Carte - which is the best, all 5 * luxury hotels and resorts with 5 * expectional service to go with it.

Gold/Platinmum doesn't mean its more expensive than any other holiday Thomson offer, its just one of the many brands they offer like Thomson Beach, Thomson Freestyle, Thomson Superfamily, Thomson Greece, Thomson Small and Friendly. - The Gran Caneria Princess you will find in the Thomson Platinum brochure.

hope this helps. xx

you will have a lovely time, the hotel is lovely, in a lovely location and the platinum programme in gran can is supererb! - The princess hotels are some of the best thomson contract too!

a must for you to do in Gran Caneria is Garbos, your rep will tell you all about it - its an entertainment and cabraet night all inclusive! very entertaining and the show is better than some I have seen on Broadway. x

it can be in the height of summer as it is very popular with young british and european tourists. However during the winter months its is very different, i have visted in July and January, and it is honestly like going to 2 completely different resorts!
You will have a fantastic time, the place is beautifull, the hotel is very close to Maspalomas, which is the famour sand dunes and is stunning.
