We all look around the different tour ops trying to get a holiday a few hundred pounds cheaper. I was looking on the web and remembered I looked at the sherwood breezes resort in turkey on direct holidays website, when seeing the hotel was done by first choice.
I got a shock at the price difference. I priced up the 2 hotels for the departure date 4 august 2009 14nts for 5 adults in 2 rooms same as my party, same airport and flights around the same time. so everything is the same
Direct Holidays price 4397, First Choice a whooping 8671 which is 4274 more than Direct Holidays. First Choice must give you gold leaf to eat for you 14nt stay, a butler and somebody to wipe your behind. How can they justify such a big price difference. 9 people could go away for less with Direct Holidays than for the price of with First Choice.
Having looked at First Choices web site and holiday prices and I won't be booking anything with. I could buy a decent second hand car or refurnish my lounge including a nice big 50' plasma.
I don't want to offend and no offence meant but who ever pays the price First Choice charge must have more money than sense.
Here is a example direct holidays sherwood breezes resort 4397 First choice 8671 lara beach turkey 4 august based on 5 adults. How can first choice justfiy a difference of 4274 which with direct holidays would almost pay for another 5 people.

It always pays to shop around, each time we are ready to book up a holiday we go on the net to get a price, then on the text, then the local travel agencies and by gum you can save quite a bit if you do your homework first.

I always book with First Choice every year ok the starting price is high, but it doesnt stay like that.
We normally get late deals with them
First choice's prices for lates are brillant (well before Thomson got them , we will have to wait and see on that one?)
Its coz you are looking way too early. Mind you saying that this august hasnt gone down yet in price, so here's hoping.
We normally pay around 12-1400 for two weeks s.catering in two rooms for two weeks for five of us.

There won't be many august bargains this year because of the 25 and 50 deposits the holidays companies did last year. Thomson, thomas cook are the same completely booked up.
Before this year first choices price were not so steep, but saying that we have booked with direct holidays for next year and we got a very good price compared to other tour ops its was 1000 cheaper. Direct holidays must of put their prices up because the breezes sherwood resort was 3600 when I booked my holiday and now is 4397.
I just can't see how one tour can justify such a price difference.
Everybody knows the bellvue alcudia is not the best accomadation in the world going by reviews and first choice want going towards 3800 and checking other hotel prices they are high. I don't know if its got anything to do with the thomson take over because thomsons prices for next year have jumped compared to this year.
Looking on the bright side there will be plenty of bargains next year because with recession which will hit, house price slump, sky high oil prices the number of people will to pay out on expensive holidays will drop, not couples so much but familes.

I can't remember which websites it was I checked fairly recently, but they were the same company operating under different banners. Even then there were price differences, and differing baggage allowances for the same holiday - same dates, price, airport, flight times etc.
The lower price was actually for the higher baggage allowance! Make sense of that if you can.

Our 2007 holiday to Ibiza (booked in 2006) was in Thomson and Portland. Thomson was a few pounds dearer but you got free insurance, whereas Portland wanted 110 for insurance for 5. Therefore we took the Thomson option - through the Thomson shop. Both Thomson and Portland are run by the same company.
This year we took out Post Office insurance it was a lot cheaper with the same cover.

Hi
its our 3rd time at hemera this year going bk on the 24th august, with people we met out there last year.
been trying to book for next year but Thomas Cook & Direct Hols are not taking bookings at the moment for the summer 09 to Hemera or Lara Resort.
Have you tried Portland Holidays or Thomson.
