hi, first time poster.

recently booked a holiday using thomas cook online as I heard it is quite good. I have already booked it and paid a deposite of 150.
When searching i searched tuesday july 22nd 2008 (which i remember spesifically searching) and when we booked it and recived the confirmation email the date was 22nd of july 2009!!!!
I know that when we were using the website we choose 22nd of july because i remember it was a tuesday we picked (and 22nd july 2009 is a wednesday).
I only noticed this problem today when the confirmation letter came through the post saying 2009 and then checked the confirmation email and noticed it was the same!
any ideas on what i should do? I cant phone them at the moment as its saturday and their closed and on sunday their closed and oviouslly this is an urgent issue.
any help would be apriciated :)

Maybe go into your nearest Thomas cook or My travel ASAP and get them to ring customer services for you, hence saving your phone bill !
I dont think they would have problems getting through. Its a difficult one that as you will have trouble proving that you put 2008, just stick to your guns!

If you had originally purposefully booked July 2009 and then changed your mind then you would be able to cancel it as it is so far in advance but you would normally lose your deposit , however this might not be the case if you was to book another holiday, they might just transfer the balance to the new booking. So try that if all else fails, Although really if its their mistake then you shouldnt have to lose anything.

ok well thanks for the help :)
what I will do is go into thomas cook hopefully today and get them to sort it out. I did search 2008 etc and the flights were 2008 before i booked them but their website was playing up for example none of the searches worked for somereason (i.e every search had no holidays atall :S) so I had to restart my computer for them to work which i cant understand why and what really got me is how when you enter passenger names and debit card details and press ok at the bottom, IT TAKES THE MONEY OUT!! without like verifiying your booking with you. It would make sense to have another page with a summary of your holiday and then ask you to confirm but oh well :(

When booking any holiday on any website it will show you the dates of travel, full holiday details online, in the case of Thomas Cook's website this is shown on the left hand side of the website before you click on the confirm button for the holiday.

I had this problem my self and did not realise I had put a diffrent date from what was showing!

When ever booking online I always make sure that it has the correct details etc before I confirm the holiday.

I will also say that shops wont be able to help and they will ask you to phone customer services (I beleve they are closed today)

As you said re a summer, you do actuly get a summer before you confirm your holiday, as I said above its on the left hand side of the website

As stated above Thomas Cook shops will not help; they will tell you that they are a different part of the Thomas Cook group.
When we recently went witt Thomas Cook we looked at the internet prices and then to the shop who gave us the best price.

Hi

Have a similar problem with incorrect hotel shown on confirmation email (booking made 5/9/08 for 23/9/08). Tried the local branch but they advised could not help. Call Centre have advised me that while they will investigate, that this will take upto 3 weeks. Also advised that the system cannot make errors.

Did you get any luck from the Call Centre? Does anyone else know of any recent issues

If Thomas Cook computer systems "Can't make errors" maybe they should be supplying the software for Government departments :-)

Any system can, and will, have problems at some time in its life. The biggest problem with any system though is the person at the keyboard. If they either mis-hear the request or mis-type a code for accommodation then errors occur. It sounds more like somebody at TC not being prepared to make the effort to sort a problem.
