Thomson - Going Electronic Or To The Dogs?

Postby Robabody on Wed Aug 30, 2006 11:50 pm

I see an anouncement tonight that the Thompson call centre in Glasgow is to close - 450 workers out of a job.............E commerce apparently. This'll link in nicely with the new ownership (TUI), cheaper carrier and the reduced portfolio then?

Thanks guys for all the service - all the best for the future

Yes my friend works there - they got 10 mins notice on Wednesday morning to attend a meeting to find out they were all out of a job by 12 December - happy christmas from Thomsons NOT:icon_grrs

They have been diverting calls from the call centre to the shops, together with more internet booking, so they are now surplus to requirements.

They'd better be made to pay back the money we gave them to set up there in the first place.

And just where are these 450 people supposed to find a job now!:icon_grrs :icon_grrs

Indeed Shazzal - we should regard our workers with more respect. Please pass on my regards to your friend and wish them luck for the future.

I could be good money that Thopson would never be allowed to behave in this sudden manner in Germany
