Has anyone booked a late deal with Thomson Holiday Auctions? Have been browsing and thinking about bidding if the right holiday comes up, I know they charge 20pp booking fee etc, but would be interested to know if anyone has any experience of booking in this way. Thanks guys! :D

Hi Sue, yes it looks fantastic. Points to note are: there is a 20 per ticket fee on top of the auction end price, all holidays are allocated on arrival, in-flight meals on short haul flights are not included in the price, and there may be an extra charge for transfers to accommodation, which varies according to the resort. You can arrange transfers at the time of booking (the transfers bit concerns me because you'd have to book first before knowing how much extra the transfers cost). There is also an airport security charge of 9 per person, and the holiday cannot be amended. Apart from that it looks great, I'll let you know if I make a bid!

For more bargains check out Thomson holidays shop on E-bay, I have friends who bagged a brilliant holiday with them!

I bid on a holiday to Gran Canaria from Manchester in March this year and got it for 355 total which was including 15.00 per person for return transfers - this is worth it for Gran Canaria but it would depend on where you were going to- and the admin charge which was 35 per person. Its not worth booking seats together as if you opt for no meals on a Thomson flight you are seated at the rear of the aircraft and all seats are allocated the previous day.
We ended up in the Eden Apartments in Puerto Rico which were good for what we paid - we went with low expectations! The apartment was clean, had a double bed, a lounge/kitchenette and a huge balcony which was great. There was entertainment and lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. I would book this way again but I would advise you to look at the current cost of a similar holiday and decide your top price and stick to it. I also bid on a Cyprus holiday but it went for more than the person who got it would have paid on the Thosmon website! I would not recommend booking this way if you have particular requirements - we only want a clean basic base to sleep and shower in.

Thanks Carole really useful info, I didn't book with them for our last holiday as most of them were a lot more expensive when everything was added on top. I'll have a look in future though & keep an open mind!

Yes, I have won a Thompson Holiday Auction. It was to Tunisia flight only and cost with extra booking charges 40 each for two tickets. Then arranged H/B accommodation in Marhaba Palace El Kantaoui with Med Hotels for 95 for 1 week. So a really cheap holiday.

Holiday auctions are great way of getting cheap deals however if youa re booking places and are unsure how far away you may be from accommodation - be careful as transfers can be quite steep!!

Hi Louisa
I've had a look at this site, but not bid on any of the auctions as we don't have any time off just yet.

Do you know if you have the option to pay for transfers with Thomson if you win the auction or do you definitely have to sort out your own transfers?

Thanks
Polly

You can add on whatever you want - transfers, inflight meals, seats together and insurance. As I said before depending on where you're going 15 for transfer can be good value. I personally wouldn't take their insurance - you can get a much better deal elsewhere.
