I booked a hotel with travel republic for a holiday to spain on 11/08/2009.
Due to a slight indiscretion on my part i booked a hotel which is 20km outside the resort which i intended staying in.
I sent a request on 13/08/2009 on the manage my booking section of there site requesting a price for transfer to a hotel within the city i require.
I have had no reply from them thus far and have on various occasions tried phoning them, but all i get is a message saying there operators are all busy and to try contacting them via the website(after almost 30 minutes of sitting on hold).
The initial cost of cancellation 2 days after booking was 50% of the total cost for the hotel, which shall rise to 75% as of Friday this week, hence the reason i would like this matter resolved urgently.
But i'm starting to think that maybe it is not in there interest to resolve this issue, and are quite happy to leave a trail of disgruntled customers due to there poor customer service and disregard for the british holidaymaker.

Have used TR a couple of times with no problems. This time, however, three days after booking our hotel (and paying for it) they contacted us to inform us that it was over booked and to offer another (and unsatisfactory alternative). I have telephoned them twice over the last week to discuss and agree an acceptable option but, so far, have heard nothing and now only have 7 days until we fly out (:
They have our money and we have no accomodation, very unsatisfactory and very worrying (been a long time since I slept rough on a beach!!)

Do not book with travel republic. They offer hotel rooms that don't actually exist. We tried to book twice with them for the same hotel within a week and both times they came back and said the room we wanted to book was not available so the booking was cancelled. It was a 2 bedroom suite. The offer of the 2 bedroom suite is still on offer on their website at this hotel for the same week that we wanted to book. It's a lie. It is not available but they keep showing it on their website. If you challenge them about this on the phone they just hang up on you. Totally unreliable!

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. We are aware of missing flights from Birmingham and indeed, Manchester to Dubai. This is due to us waiting on Emirates Airlines giving us permission to sell their flights through our GDS (Airline Booking System).

Because of our size and they way we book flights, we need an automated solution to do this. The request for this with Emirates is underway and we are hoping for a positive outcome within the next month! So fingers crossed!

We could set up a manual process but it would involve us using availability that wasnt live and up to date, which we dont like having to do as it raises peoples expectations based on historical data, which isnt always accurate.

I wil try and remember to post on here if we start selling the Dubai flights from Birmingham!

Thanks again
Steve

Once again Travel republic have managed to make our stay in Cairo Egypt a complete misery. Last year we booked into The Grand Pyramids Hotel with guests and the hotel had not received the booking which had been passed onto a 3rd party by Travel Republic. Despite all of our paperwork which confirmed the booking we had to pay again.
And guess what we booked, (once again via Travel Republic, more fool us!!) into The Cataracts Pyramids hotel Cairo last week, once again with guests and full confirmation of the bookings. Unbelievable we arrived after a 10 hour road journey to discover once again Travel Republic had passed the booking onto a 3rd party and the hotel did not have our booking. To make matters worse the hotel was already overbooked and at 10.30 at night we had to find alternative accomodation,no easy task.... costly, traumatic and exhausting.
Advice DO NOT USE TRAVEL REPUBLIC TO BOOK HOTEL ACCOMODATION, they may appear to be cheap but when you have to pay again on arrival or have to find alternative accomodation because they have passed the booking onto a 3rd party who haven't processed the booking it proves to be a stressful, soul destroying, expensive experience.

BE WARNED DO NOT USE THIS TRAVEL COMPANY. NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I SUFFERED SUCH STRESS AND UPSET. THIS COMPANY USE OTHER COMPANIES TO BOOK ACCOMODATION IN SO CALLED 'TAILOR-MADE HOLIDAYS'. WHAT THEY DID WAS ADVERTISE A HOTEL NO-ONE ELSE HAD AVAILABLE, AND WE FOUND OUT THE DAY BEFORE WE WENT THROUGH MY OWN CONTACT WITH THE HOTEL, THAT WE WERN'T BOOKED THERE AT ALL. WE THEN HAD TO GO TO AN AWFUL HOTEL AS BECAUSE OF THE 'TAILOR-MADE HOLIDAY' YOU CAN'T GET A REFUND FOR YOUR FLIGHTS OR TRANSFERS. I AM SURE WE WOULD HAVE FOUND THIS OUT WHEN WE ARRIVED HAD I NOT CONTACTED THE HOTEL DIRECT. WE HAVE BEEN PERSUING THEM FOR MONTHS AND THEY AND THE OTHER COMPANY ADMITTED THEY DOUBLE BOOKED, AND THEN WHEN TRADING STANDARDS GOT INVOLVED SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT! WE EVEN HAVE AN EMAIL FROM THE HOTEL WITH TIMES ETC THAT THEY READ THE EMAIL SAYING THE HOTEL WAS BOOKED! THE WHOLE COMPANY IS A JOKE, THEY LIE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS, LURE YOU IN WITH A LOVELY HOTEL, LET YOU BOOK AND PAY, THEN SHOVE YOU IN A HOTEL WHICH IS AWFUL AND YOU HAVE NO CHOICE AS YOU'D LOSE YOUR FLIGHT AND TRANSFER MONEY. OH ALSO, THEY DON'T SHOW THAT THEY USE DIFFERENT COMPANIES TO BOOK THE SAME HOTEL, BUT THESE COMPANIES USE DIFFERENT DESCRIPTIONS. I.E WE PAID AN EXTRA £30 BECAUSE THE DESCRIPTION SAID 'GARDEN VIEW' AND THE OTHERS DIDN'T, YOU WOULD ASSUME THIS IS A MORE PREMIER ROOM, BUT ACTUALLY IT'S JUST A DIFFERENT COMPANY'S DESCRIPTION! THEY ARE TOTALLY MISLEADING THE CUSTOMER AND I WOULD WARN ANYONE TO AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.

PS/does anyone have the latest discount code for TR. PLEASE.?
