Travelrepublic? Bad company to deal with. Following the collapse of the XL group, and Medlife hotels, I took the advice on their website and rebooked our hotel, which is for our wedding anniversary, less than a week away. So I have paid twice. They have now changed their advice - they say they can now recover the money that they paid to the Medlife group, so they advise to cancel the original booking and get a refund, less an admin charge. All well and good - but the "admin charge" in our case is 100% of the deposit. As we booked late, we had to pay in full. Hence we lose all our money for the first booking.

To inflame matters further, the hotel does not have a reservation for us - for either booking. It advised that, if we arrive, we will have to pay in full - but only if there is room in the hotel. I declined the ofer to make a 3rd booking!

I am going to try and recover the money from my credit card company but I am not hopeful. Unfortunately, we are not covered by our travel insurance for this.

Sorry, meant to say that Travel Republic have failed to respond to my "Customer Service Request" raised on their website, and you cannot get through on the phone. It's either engaged or simply rings until the line drops.

Hello!!!SOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Before 6 months I booked AI holidays in Egypt with Travel Tepublick. And now after bust of XL Leisure group I still have my flight(Monarch Airlines),but I lost our accommodation. I wrote at least three times from last Friday them, but my enquires still unlocatied.I don’t know what to do, to get in touch with them by phone will take ages! I have traded many times, but nobody pick up!I am very very disappointed. Who can help me, maybe someone knows, where is the main office, because I see only one way, how to touch with them. Thanks a lot.

Hi all

Had a phone call today from Lauren at Travel Republic. She explained that they have had to deal with 75,000 phone calls - and their phone system crashed under the strain. However she has sorted us out - in our case we had booked through Medlife Hotels and Medlife had not been paid by TR for our booking. Hence TR are able to refund us. Great for us - hope everyone else gets similar help.

Thanks to Steve for his offer to help. Credit to him and TR for this.

WELL DONE!!!!!!!
to steve and lauren, its nice to see that some companies look after there customers, its a shame that OTbeach.com cant be as caring to there customers instead of taking extra money in stealthy ways.
