| Hello, first post; hope you can advise me.
A member of my family found a good price for return flights to Zimbabwe where we are going in a hurry for a furneral. The figure quoted to her was resonable and went via connecting flight from South Africa. She agreed it and I let her use my credit card to pay for three of the party.
When the confirmation email arrives it is for a totally different figure; and they have taken the full amount from my credit card.
Obviously we phoned and complained; and now they are saying we have to pay a cancellation fee.
I have sent an email complaint to ABTA; and now we are looking to find other flights urgently; the credit card company (Barclaycard) has been useless and will not stop the payment which is 900 pounds more then agreed.
I have requested the copies of the phone conversations which will show the revised figure was not mentioned. They refuse to provide this.
Any options for me in this prior to going to the small claims court (which I fully intend to do)?

| the company will at times record calls, it will never be g/teed
my advise is to speak to them and get them to take if further, and ask to speak to a manager / supervisor about it.
Alot of these companys will have process's inplace where they can listen to the calls and then take action from there.
Faling that you can demand to have your call played back to you or sent to you and request all data they hold to be sent to you under the data proctection act :) (not sure if that will cover your call recording)

| I have no problem in saying who they are; as I am going to progress this in Civil law with them and if nothing happens today I am going to use Criminal law and make a complaint of them obtaining funds through the fraud with the Police.
They are TravelhouseUK

| Ah, I'm having problems with Sunworld direct, I'm following the complaint procedure as per ABTA instructions. Just sent my 2nd letter of, if there reply isn't to my satisfaction then ABTA will take over from there.
You just don't need this hassle when planning a holiday especially when in your case it is for a funeral, in my case it's my wedding. They can't be allowed to get away with this. Good luck

| Thanks for that; hopefully ABTA will be able to help; but one way or another I intend to make life hard for this company until they resolve this to my satisfaction.

| Tom, thanks for the trading names; and interesting to see where they are based; that will be useful for serving the claims notice.

| hi maffy, glad to see you paid by CREDIT CARD and not debit card or cheque. ive banged on about this on other posts. right, regards getting your money back. the small claims track is an option you can take, but the best route is to reclaim the money back from your credit card company. look at this link and it explains why.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/x-ray/sites/allarticles/updates/6p10_questionx.shtml
now look at this link and it will tell you how
http://www.moneyextra.com/features/012718.features.html
if you do go down the route of litigation then you will be able to claim back costs, interest pursuant to statute and aggrevated/exemplary damages. but a note of caution nothing in life is guaranteed and you could lose. in most cases you will not have to pay their costs if you do lose unless the judge finds that your bringing the action was vexatious. its you descision in the end. hope this entry helps, good luck and let us know your progress. alan
