When is best time to book for summer 2009

Postby evemae on Wed Jul 16, 2008 2:31 pm

Hi im looking to book next years holiday i always book around this time for the following year. Although we normally travel first 2 weeks in september my daughter will be at full time school next year so we are going to hve to go either late july/august. Having looked at the major tour operators i cannot believe the difference in prices for the sake of a couple of weeks.I am now thinking would it be more beneficial to either
a. save up and get a late deal or
b. save up till the likes of ryanair/easyjet etc start doing next summers flights and book seperately.

I have been looking today and the deals that are available for this august are still quite expensive. I say expensive i am comparing it to this years holiday 2 weeks AI in alcudia 2 adults 2 children flying from newcastle 1700. Not really bothered about going all inclusive next year i am quite open to a self catering holiday if i can get it cheap enough however the prices for august are 2000+ and thats just self catering.

Any advise would be really appreiated, thanks in advance x

Having just searched E-Bay..found 2 weeks Hols under £500. Self Catering ..Choose either July /Aug..09.in a 1 bed apt, sleep.4 max.
Flights would be Extra..but cannot believe that 4 flights would cost any thing above £1,000. So making the Holiday Less than £1500..Total.
Certainly worth a look!! Good Luck!!

Yes flights extra says it all , have you seen the price of flights lately ?
Always more expensive in the school hols. Cheap good accom is easy to find , you only have to look at the hotels only bit on thomson to see that, but its the flights that get you. We looked at diy a hol in october in the school hols for a week and they want 2K + just for flights for the five of us!
I dont think we will be paying that somehow.
They still havent gone down in price , even though there is only weeks to go? We have been looking since the flights came available too.
With all this credit crunch talk at the moment , even though they have all put up their prices dramatically now, they may have to also dramatically drop them eventually when they discover not many are booking. Personally I would ride the storm out and wait and see?

hi all just thought i would let you know that i was talking to my cousin who works for an independent travel company in the north east and she has advised me to wait untill january if i am wanting to book a package holiday with a tour operator as the yrelaunch their summer brochures then and the travel agents get new discount codes which tell them how much they can take off holidays booked with them and also the free child places are limited now but they add extra in january.
