| A BRITISH teenager raped in Turkey was offered a free holiday if she did not tell police, her mother said yesterday.
The 17-year-old girl was brutally attacked inside the apartment building where she was staying with her mother and younger sister.

| You cannot put all the blame on the young girl Sydney, and as for being offered a free holiday next year, does this not tell you something? It would put me off going back to the country if it had have happened to any one related to me!

| "The way young girls dress and act nowadays is anyone surprised." --- Sydney
I'm really shocked when I hear opinions like this. It makes me quite sad that someone can justify rape under any circumstances. Nobody asked to be raped regardless of what they are wearing or how they are acting.

| It doesnt make me sad it makes me furious, how anyone can blame a rape on the girls that are violated is just beyond comprehension, saying "is anyone suprised" like they ask for it to happen by the way they conduct themselves or dress, I have a 14 year old daughter and her comments made me feel sick,

| Some people are so sick, how could anyone do this to a child? I have 2 girls of my own and this is a real worry for any parent.
I don't think it has anything to do with what they wear, I just think some people are sick in the head and this is the only way they get their thrills.
oooh I've got to go because this has made me real upset at the thought - I hope they catch him and throw away the key.

| No female of any age deserves to be raped, what right do men think they have, even if the girl was walking round naked it still doesnt make it ok. It makes me so angry. Men who do this kind of thing should be castrated.

| It is so sad to hear of this happening. I dont know which is more revolting, the actual rape or the hotel trying to cover it up in order to protect their name!
This behaviour is inexcusable. I notice there is a comment on this thread saying it would put them off going to this country.
Unfortunately rapes take place all over the world, not in the least in the UK, it is unfair to blame the country but rather the individual and those trying to protect him/their name no matter which country it takes place in.
There are good and bad everywhere and it is unfortunate and unforgiveable behaviour and the culprit should be punished severely, yes I would agree with castration!

Sydney, that is the worst thing you have ever written on this site, you should be ashamed, of even thinking that way.
As others have said, regardless of how girls dress, it does not give any man the cause to give offence in any way, let alone a sexual assault
Just as some of your previous comments, do not give me the right to reply in a similar way. Just how will that family feel if they ever visit this site in the future.

| I have nothing against Turkish people, but a few years ago a 16 year old was raped in our town by a Turkish lad, in a car park, he was caught, after someone else nearly got the rap for it, Luckily DNA tests proved he was innocent, thank God for DNA. This Turkish lad probably thought he was in the clear.

| This is clearly a very serious subject, & rightly so,
At the end of the day, in my opinion, you have to take away all the modern assumptions, rape is still rape whether it happened 100 or two years ago, no matter what the circumstances.
Men can still be raped by women, laughable as it may seem, it does happen.
It doesn't mean that all men get carried away, which again, is a modern assumption. Anyone that thinks otherwise is living in the past.
But, whatever has happened is wrong & nobody should condone, or make excuses for it. :thumbdow:

| The story is discusting (excuse bad spelling), and apparently this is common in Turkey, somebody I know came back this year and said the Turkish guys tried to buy her from her mother. It seems like a very corrupt place, or is this just certain bad areas?

| Someone offered 5 camels for my daughter they were joking with us, Turkey is not a very corrupt place, and all of the Turkish men we have met in our time there on holiday have been warm and friendly, not in any menacing way, They are a lovely people very friendly, there is good and bad in every nation,I think the hotel should be removed from the brochures but it certanly wont stop me going on holiday to Turkey again. It is a lovely country and the people are so friendly.
