E111
Hi , While browsing through another holiday site I noticed that there is a lot of discussion concerning an article in the Sunday Mail about tourists being refused treatment due to them holding an E111 with a pre 2004 date stamp. The conclusion here was that due to new cards for medical insurance to be issued from 2005 theres been problems with E111,s currently used. The advice given is to renew them for the remainder of this year. Any body here got views on this.

"Important Changes to the E111
The current E111 forms are only valid until December 31 2004. New electronic medical insurance cards are due to replace the existing forms in September 2005. Transitional forms will be available from August 2004 and will need to be completed by those travelling to the EU after December 31 2004. These forms will contain similar information to the new electronic cards and as the family E111 will no longer exist, will need to be completed for each family member. The new electronic cards are introduced in September 2005, but the transitional forms will be valid until 31 December 2005. "
