Terror fears ground two BA flights

British Airways have cancelled two flights to Washington and Riyadh.

BA said the decision to cancel the flights from Heathrow was made this morning for 'security reasons'.

The flights are BA223 to Washington scheduled for Sunday, and flight BA263 to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, scheduled for Monday.

A spokeswoman added: 'Following advice from the Government we have cancelled the two flights due to security reasons.

'We take our lead from the advice we take from the Government as to what action to take.'

The nature of the security threat was not disclosed.

It is not the first time BA has had to cancel flight BA223, the Washington route has been grounded several times since Christmas because of fears of a terrorist threat.
