| I we nt to Hammamet last Nov for a week and found that there were'nt many trip to do...the trips that the hol company were offering were expensive..A trip to the market is a must but cheaper to go by taxi ( ask price before you get in ). the shops and stalls at the far end of the market are cheaper & remember to barter..Also watch your pockets & bags...I had an old lady putting her hand in my bag so do be aware..there is plenty of police there...

| went on a Tunisian night (6years ago) that was a good day/evening .
taken by coach somewhere in desert about and hour away. seated in an arena with a horse riding display and some other stuff, then into a "tunisian tent" for food and drink and jugglers, dancers etc.
Food was OK and all drinks were free (only red wine and cokes though) back at hotel around midnight, thought that it was typical tourist stuff but good value.
I suppose that they still do something similar.

| Can't rememeber prices as it's a few years since we went to Hammamet, but trips we did we to Sidi Bou Said (nice village), Carthage (historical site) another historical trip (name escapes me, but think it began with "D") 2 day desert trip, incl Tatouine, where they filmed Star Wars, the amphitheatre at Djem (again, name may be slightly wrong) pirate ship, casino night, Sousse, Port El Kantoui....if I think of any more, I'll post again.

| As at the hotel reception about hiring a car with a driver for the day or get together with some other couples and hire a minibus with a driver. We did that last year with two other couples, cost £50 per couple which is about the same or cheaper than tours. He took us from Hammamet down to Sousse and took us through some lovely little villages. Took us to a place where the Brits held out against the Germans for three days, took us to the war graves then down to Sousse. On the way back he took us to Port el Kantoui then back a different way to the hotel. We could stay as little or as long as we wanted at each place, he was always there waiting for us and it was a really good day out and far better value for money.
Also another couple from our hotel went to Tunis by train on their own and had a really cheap day out. Also taxis are really cheap and it is better to go on your own to the markets than with a tour.
Hope this helps.
