Monastir Airport, a rip off.
Just got back from Tunisia, had a great time as usual but I feel I have to pass on this story of rip off. On leaving for the airport to return home the Holliday Rep advised us to get rid of all our Dinars by tipping the coach driver and then changing all notes back to dinar as once through into the departure lounge you can no longer spend Dinars, this is rubbish, we did as advised then went to the cafe as my partner wanted a bottle of water, the price marked on the shelf was 2.2TD which was expensive enough for a 500ml bottle of water, imagine my horror when he asked for 1.50 bear in mind the government set exchange rate was 2.49 Dinars to the pound, I have a feeling the checkout staff in the cafe are running a scam probably poketing the excess as tips, also outside all the toilets the cleaning ladies stand demanding tips. I love Tunisia and have been several times but I do think it is behaviour like this that puts many people of returning to the country.

Monastir Airport, a rip off.
Ive noticed that every where now since the liquids ban, when you want a drink at the airport you are ripped off as they know that you cant buy one anywhere else, even the duty free shops only sell the usual chocolate, alcohol, perfume, etc but all the drinks are gone so you have to buy them from the extorionate snack bars or restaurants.
Its a joke we got ripped off to the sound of 9 euros for three small drinks at Thessalonika airport they were only small ribena sized cartons with juice in for the kids, i nearly fainted when he said how much! we wouldnt pay 7 quid for 3 ribenas at home would we.
I think its pretty much the same everywhere at the mo
