Is anyone else going to Tej Marhaba?
I can't wait, 5 more sleeps.... I have never beeen to Tunisia before and I am really looking forward to it!
Just have a couple of questions.....
Is it easy enough to get a train to El Jem? Or anywhere else for that matter?!
Is there much vegetarian food about?
Is it cheaper to get cigarettes at airport or on plane?
I'd really appreciate any responses.
Thanks!

Tej Marhaba 23/5 - couple of questions...
Hi, I have been to Tunisia several times over the last ten years or so, cigarettes are much cheaper in the resort, shopping is very cheap but the local shopkeepers in the market towns will try and rip you off, so be wary, the hotels are usually spotlessly clean but be careful in the old towns, their sanitation leaves a lot to be desired, if you are women travelling alone, be extremely cautious, the Tunisian men all think they are Gods gift to women, they could be old, bald and fat but they think we look at them and see Brad Pitt, its also very cheap for drinks and in cafes/restaurants, vegetarian meals shouldnt be a problem, most dishes consist of pasta, salad, potatoes etc, the hotel will probably be able to cater more for you than littlle cafes etc, the weather is very very hot from around 9am till 6 pm so be sure to take loads of sun protection, you cannot walk the streets in bikinis etc, cover up modestly(t shirt shorts etc), the beaches are spectacular and like sugar most areas, dont try the local beer, its like dishwater, buy bottles of uk beer, its a little more expensive but not much and miles better, taxis are dirt cheap, beware of the tuk tuks(little 3 wheel cars), drivers are usually a bit mad, nightlife is quite limited, most of the entertainment is hotel based, haggling in the old medinas is great fun, if you have the nerve, they will try and charge 50 for a cheap t shirt etc, very friendly people, especially the waiters(wether you are young or old fat or thin , pretty or ugly, they dont care as long as you are female!, have a fantastic time
