I've just book a two week AI holiday to the Dar Khayam in Hamemmet (can't spell that)
I've read lots of posts about Tunisia but just wondered what you think are must dos?
Its the first time I've ever booked an AI holiday and am not sure how much money/travellers cheques to take.

Tunisia Must-do/see/buy?
The 2 day Dessert Safari has to be top of the list, it's hard work but you will see a very different world especialy when you get down to the south of the country, the scenery around Matmarta is stunning and riding a cammel out into the Sahara is awsome. A trip to the Bardo Museum, Carthage and Sidi Bou Said is also worth doing, sadly last year We found Sidi Bou Said so crowded you could hardly move which was sad as it is a very pretty little village, also the museum was packed. El Djem is worth a visit but you will do this if you are on the Desert Safari. A trip to Douga is a must do if you are interested in Roman remains. If you have children then a trip to Friguia Park Zoo is well worth it, it is a very well run Zoo and the snack bars are cheep, We booked an organised trip which included dinner and entertainment from Zulu dancers and traditional Tunisian dancers, it was excellent.
Tunisia is generaly a very cheep country to stay, so even if you fancy the odd evening away from your AI hotel you won't spend that much, a bottle of beer is less than 1, last year we went for 2 weeks A I we took 1000 (2 adults and a child) and came home with over 200 even though we did a lot of excursions including the 2 day desert safari, 6 years ago we went Half board and managed very comfortably on 500 for 2 weeks. I would take all in travelers cheques as cash machines are not plentifull.

Buy a tunisian camel, or better still..trade someone in for one!
Be warned though they are a bit dicey to get through customs in blighty.
