Hope this isn't an old question but can anyone tell me just what are the Duty Free Allowances you can bring back from Turkey?

I thought you were only allowed 200 cigarettes, is it definately 400?

It's only 200 per person over 17 yrs old outside EU.

this is a fine line one, but yes you are only allowed 200 cigs DUTY FREE. but I thought that if you purchased the cigarettes in the supermarkets/shops you are paying the duty on them and you can bring many more home. In Europe nothing is duty free anymore but TAXFREE..3200 cigs from europe purchased in the shps.. and they are about the same price in the airport. Depending on the resort you are going to, you could take a trip either to kos or rhodes on the hydrofoil,both countries are in the EU

In reply to CarolB, you can purchase 16 cartons of cigs within the Eu, but if you are flying back from Turkey you can't clear Customs through the Blue Channel as your bags are identified as being outwith the EU (no green edges on the baggage labels) so if you were stopped in the Green channel you would be liable for the duty or have them taken off you, as you're importing them from Turkey, wherever they were bought.
