ive just booked a holiday for next year to the club alize apartments in marmaris turkey.I booked to go to turkey for one reason only and that was because everyone said how cheap it was there(for eating out drinks etc). So i booked to take my 4 kids next june but since then i have read numerous reports from people saying how expensive it has got there i read one today that said it is cheaper over here now than in turkey! Can anybody shed any light on this for me as if this is the case i will have to cancel the holiday and go somewhere cheaper

Re: How cheap is Turkey?
We have just come back from Turunc, not far from Marmaris, On an evening there was always 8 of us eating out, The most we paid ( splashed out ) all the time we were there was 10 per head, this was a 5 course special including drinks, most of the time we paid between 45 and 65 for all 8 of us including drinks and what ever everyone wanted off the menu, A good tip is just book a main course to start with as you always get delicious freshly cooked garlic bread and butter free at most restraunts.Do try the Iron pan Lamb, MMMMMMMMM,,,,
We did have 2 ,,16 year olds with us and even with just the bread and main courses they were complaining they were too full to eat a sweet,, You will be pestered to visit their restraunts and they can get pushy, Just take your time, and pick at your leisure,.. Please let us know how you get on when you get back,

:thumleft: hiya , weve jus got bk from altinkum, and although all of turkey is cheap, most ppl say that altinkum is by far the cheapest.it is so cheap its criminal haha.1 million for a beer!!10 million is eqiv to 4 our money.food, drink, clothes, trips are all CHEAP.all fake designer gear is peanuts.go the markets and get 7 (named) t shirts for a 10. they prefer sterling there so if you can take that and your money will go even further .have fun

Hi Lesley,
The prices now in resort because of stronger ytl to the pound means you are getting less for your this year than last, also I think there has been a substantial increase in prices, that much so Turkey cannot be reguarded as cheap,
Prices you will be expected to pay are
Large Effes Beer 3ytl to 5ytl say you pay 3.5ytl =1.55
Large coke always dearer than beer 4ytl =1.78
Meal Breast of chicken with all trimmings 12ytl=5.32
Peppered Steak with all trimmings 21ytl=9.33
just giving you a rough idea of costs beer is cheaper than home but you can get meals in England for less than the restaurents in Turkey.
Although you would have to take into consideration you get a free starter with your meal a complimentary drink or coffee at the end,you may get a platter of fruit there is also the better service you get in Turkey and a holiday ambience.
All I am trying to point out it is no longer cheap but affordable at the side of the Costas and Greece.
