Package or DIY Holidays

I would be interested to know if the majority of people book package deals instead of the DIY options to Turkey, We always book a package really because I am not a brave soul and like to have someone to fall back on ( complain to ). Lots of friends of mine book DIY to Turkey and swear that is works out half the cost, What do you lot think ?. :?:

I voted for DIY because Turkey is just so prepared for it. Most hotels/villa/aptmts can arrange private transfers from the airport for you or you can arrange them yourself.

The advantages are obvious, prices work out cheaper than packages and you get the luxury of your own private air conditioned transfer (no waiting around on coaches in the heat).

I am going to Turkey next week for 4 nights, the hotel I am booked into charges �14 per room per night but there are cheaper ones.

Yes I know Chris, do you have kids?. You see a package deal sees you from start to finish and you do have a comeback if your holiday wasnt up to standard, For me its like a comfy blancket ( yes I know I am a wuss ).I nearly went DIY to Turyey this year then I got a brilliant price from a package deal for Lykia World ( ahhhhhh heaven) and coudnt say NOOOOOO,,,
If you call me a wimp I will get you at playtime. :evil:

Kids!!!

I don't married till June and then your looking at least 2 years till I intend (Plan?) to hav any kids. I enjoy my peace and quiet too much.

Yes I can see the benefits of a package though if you have small children.

You dont plan kids, they just happen, and who said anything about small??..... My lad is 15 6ft3" size 13 feet ( hobbit) gobby and a babe magnet ( he thinks ). My girl is a 12 year old hormonal fashion victim. See why I need a GOOD holiday do ya?.That is why Lykia World is paradise they can go do their thang or whatever with their own kind /Species in a very large enclosed playpen ( lykia)with all their own entertainment, all totaly secure while hubby and me sprawl at the side of an ADULTS ONLY pool,, (HAHA cant catch meeee) Honestly the place is paradise, The club for older kids ( 14-18 ) last year went out on Lykias own boat on Saturday night, took the kids to beach they had a disco and B-B-Q and slept on the boat overnight, ( segregated) and brought them all back Sunday morning.What more can I say.... :?:

DIY Everytime

Booked Lykia World for August and saved loads on travel agent price.

Maybe sometimes the price does not work out much cheaper but don't forget the fact you can book the flights and transfers that suit you or your family. Having 2 children I know what it can be like travelling on awkward flights and long transfer times at your destination.

We would not have been able to afford Lykia World if not DIY. Not only saved mega bucks but have really good flights and will probably knock at least 1/2 hr off travel time at the other end.

Ohhh, Lovely, I ned to ask, Did you book direct with Lykia World. ?.and how much is the transfer from the airport?. There will be 7 of us in June and maybe a minibus to Lykia would be better.
Oh your soooooo brave, well done, Did you save vast quantaties in money booking direct?. I am not usually this nosey, ( SHUTTIT CHRIS )

Jan,

I agree with what you said about having someone to complain to should you need to etc but dont forget some companies like Medhotels have their own reps in resorts so it is effectively no different! The money you save doing it DIY is well worth it anyway!
