Has anyone had trouble with Tulip Holidays. I booked a holiday with them as they beat a previous quote for the same resort. Only for them to increase the price once I'd paid a deposit of 750. I told Tulip that I wished to cancel and went back to the original agents. I later got a call from Tulip telling me that they would honor the original price, by which time I had booked elsewhere. I was told that I would not get back my deposit. Has anyone else had this problem, if so, did you get any luck claiming back your deposit
thanks
Del

Re: Tulip Holidays
Hi Del,
No dealing with Tulip, but did you receive written confirmation of the agreed price?
When you paid your deposit were you given a final balance in writing, if so the only increase they can make is a flight increase for fuel charges. (Supplement)
And/ or a percentage cancellation fee depending on length of time before holiday.
Your best bet would be to write to Tulip, stating that considering they were in breach of the original contract, by increasing the cost of your holiday.
My source states that many companies put different things in the small print however these should be readable with reasons stated. Look for words like Administration fees, unforeseen costs, cancellation fees, flight carriers and the like.
Failing all this try a letter to the bonding agents.
Good luck

Re: Tulip Holidays
Thanks for info.
I got writen confirmation a day or two after my booking for the agreed price, which I guess they had sent out straight away, befoe they decided to increase the price. They sent nothing out after with the increased price, which is why I have no proof that they actually put the price up.
I did write, phone, fax, e-mail etc to Tulip, but I only got one response, and that was if I wanted to cancel they would send me a cancellation form but I would lose my deposit, after then they ignored the rest of my communications.
They did, however, threaten to have us kicked out of the resort if we booked with another agent, as a Director of Tulip, Mr Sokman, claimed he co-owned the hotel, which apparently isn't true. I didn't want to risk this with my 2 year old, so we had to book elsewhere, at even more expense.
I would just like to warn anyone thinking of travelling with Tulip to think twice, and then think some more. To me it seems that Tulip try to beat all other quotes to get you to book with them, and then increase the price once the deposit has cleared.
If anyone else has had the same problem I would like to hear, as that would possibly help with any further action I have to take with Tulip through the courts
Cheers
