Hi

A little about me.

From Manchester, 36 and wanting to go somewhere in UK as i dont fly.

Mr girlfriend doesnt want to drive too far, so depending on location we would either go in car or by train.

I am looking to go somewhere that has many facilities on site, restaurant, crazy gold, pool (Indoor/Outdoor) etc.

Unfortunately we dont have any kids but all the parks seem to be aimed at families.

I would like to go somewhere that is say within 2-4 hours drive from Manchester. Is near the seaside/beach. Has many great facilities on even if you have to pay for some of them. Also maybe some attractions nearbye like castles/zoo/museums etc. We are looking to stay for 3 nights only.

Now i was going to book at Haven - Thorpe. But have read mixed reviews on this site.

Any ideas/suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

P.s. I have only been checking Haven at the moment but if anyone know of any other Operators that are park specialist i would appreciate a web link t/y.

hi clint, how about berwick upon tweed there is a haven park there and if you like castles there is edinburgh castle, alnwick castle and bamburgh castle all within 1 hour from berwick.
there is a train station 5 mins from the park so you can travel to newcastle upon tyne in 45 mins or edinburgh in 1 hour, the local countryside is beautiful and there is lots of small villages to see including wooler which is at the foot of the cheviot hills.
i hope this helps you, believe me you wont be disapointed, here is a link to the park.tom.

Why dont you try a weekend break in London - we have had many a good weekend on the town - the museums are all fee which include the V & A, Science and Natural History Museums and also the british museam which has a great display of artifacts from around the world - we usually travel down on train using virgin first class book tickets on value advance and you get a good deal.. purchase an oyster card and charge it up for the weekend and you can hop on and off the buses and tubes. I recommend Novotel at Hammersmith as great for on and off the tube trains and also liked the Novotel Euston which had the most fab chef the food was excellent. not many of the london hotels have pools but there is a couple at Kennsington but the rooms are a little on the small side. Also you can book a top london show in theatre land or take a trip on the london eye for a good look around - great place for couples and plenty to do

Why not try camping? There are some great adult only sites in the UK with excellent facilities, and if you don't fancy a tent I'm sure some of them have static homes and/or lodges on site for hire.

I've just returned from a break at a Warner 'Just for Adults' hotel near Nottingham. They have loads of facilities and no children in sight. I booked through my local travelcare travel agent.

Hiya Clint,

Loved your films.

You may consider a short 7 day cruise from Southampton on the Sea Princess, this offers pick-up from Manchester & Return, a cruise to Spain and France with 4 stops finally a stop at Gurnsey.
On board you will find everything you asked for plus a lot more, this is a nice way to see a bit of the world without flying.
( they are also doing a 14 med tour from & returning to S'hampton)
There are now many more cruises sailing from the UK, so if you want more information just ask. But this one is a great opener to cruising.
Cruising is like 'Being in the Garden of Eating'

Hi Terry
I know its a little bit further but, try St Minver Holiday Park, near Wadebridge, North Cornwall.

My girlfriend and I spend regular breaks there, all the amenities are available and you are only a matter of a mile or so away from some breathtaking beaches with watersports, the Camel trail (for cycling), Eden Project. Country pub a short walk for superb food and great beer and cider. I don't book through the agents I found the owners private website and believe me the facilities are amazing, why not take a look www.kernow4u.com. Prices are pretty reasonable but during peak times it can be difficult to get a short break.

Regards

Sue
