Joined: 10 Apr 2008 Posts: 2	hi im travelling to the usa soon with around 20 people. 2 of the party have been arrested in the uk. 1 for drink driving and the other cautioned for possession of cannibis. if they just say no arrests or convictions on the form that you fill in to enter the usa how will the authorities find out that they have lied. i realise this is wrong but the 2 may not have time to get the visa's

Joined: 19 Nov 2004 Posts: 1528 My Profile	Any convictions which have gone before a court in the last 25 years is on record and can be found in seconds by US customs. DUI might not be recorded but use of Cannibis will be if convicted. you need to contact US Embassy. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ENTER US without first clearing with Embassy. The outcome might be one or two nights in jail or the first available flight home. Case in point Amy Winehouse refused even a visa just because drugs were found in her apartment.

Joined: 21 Apr 2008 Posts: 12 My Profile	Any arrests full stop require a visa as per the US embassy guidelines. People have differing opinions on what the US authorities can find out but personally I would not risk it, if someone is deported then they're likely to be barred from the US for life.

Joined: 17 May 2008 Posts: 1	my friend travels to the US all the time for vacations and he has a drink drive against him, as do I. He doesn't declare it, never has. If you are going there for work and require a working visa, you're best to go to the US embassy in your respective company where you'd need to decalre it.
