HI WE HAVE BEEN WITH TRAVEL CITY 3 TIMES
and this year we have booked to go in sept 2008 again there are 5 adults and we booked the upgraded seats for more legroom paid 169 each and i have just recieved a letter saying that they are no longer using the jumbos but are using the airbus 300-200 instead well they said they will refund the money we paid for the seats, but the problem is from what i can see on the net tthat the airbus 300-200 is a lot smaller than the jumbos and we have 2 adults that are 6ft 6inches tall so small seats are really uncomfortable for them dont know what to do now wether to cancel alltogether or just hope that we can get exit seats instead but i bet there are no left now so although tcd are good when it comes to holidays the inconvenience of things like this put u off before u go sorry to be a downer enjoy your holiday in a fantastic place and dont forget to go to typhoon lagoon its brill try it for your last day there and book ur baggage in early at the mall at travel city direct office then u have the rest of the day to urselves with no worries about ur luggage a nice swin and shower after being at typoon lagoon all day then onto the plane and ur so tired u will sleep all the way home lol enjoy

TCD/Excel are planning on getting some A330's, but however if they have told you they are using an A300 then they must be leasing one as the 747-300's are very old and tired now (along with very regular maintenance issues) Seating config ill guess will be all 1 class if there is no premium section with 8 abreast in the style of 3-4-3.
Excel do like to offer a premium section with long hauls to compete with the likes of Thomsonfly/First Choice/My Travel/Thomas Cook/Monarch and i find it rather strange they are not offering you this. It will be a true shame if they stop the premium section.

we are travelling with tcd in oct 08 and have just received a letter which states it's replacing the 747 with a 767. They apparently are taking the 747's out of service! They will not give any refund or a price reduction for this and instead of the seats being 3 4 3 they are now 2 4 2 .

Hi, I believe that they are getting rid of 747, 757 and 767 aircraft. They are keeping 737's and hoping to get 330's. Sound like they are going to have some hard times ahead. Hope your flights don't have too many changes.

I have booked with TCD for Oct 08. I booked premium seats (38" pitch) in august 07 and after i paid my full deposit of 500, they wrote to me to say that they were using a different plane and now the seat pitch was 35", I had a form to sign and return to confirm I accepted this but of course i didn't as I had paid an extra 717 for premium, sunshine upperdeck seats are 34" at 510 additional payment. I have e-mailed their customer services as i would have liked to re-book the sunshine upperdeck and save 200 and lose an inch, also I didn't think I had got what I paid for and feel the seats were mis-sold to me on the basis that they must have known in the week prior to me paying the full deposit that they couldn't provide what they had advertised. I havn't had a reply since that e-mail on the 8th october, Trading standards have advised me to contact ABTA and I am still awaiting their reply from a week ago. I would settle for a bit of compensation but their customer service is lousy, when I spoke to them they just agree that "they understand" but put it in writing!! My hubby has a special birthday on the day of return so I would ideally like everything to be SPOT ON but I must say I have lost quite a bit of confidence with this company and I can't believe that I have had to complain a year in advance!!.
