| Hi all, I'm off on a trip to the states in september and I'm interested in these new pre loaded travel cards. What do you all think, any advise would be usefull

| They sound ok, but if you lose them..you lose all the money on it. If i was going to do it, i may be tempted to place a small amount on it for emergencies and use cash.

| You'd be better off opening a Nationwide Flexaccount instead. They don't charge for withdrawals abroad although you might still get hit with charges from the ATM owner. The ATM charge would apply whatever card you use.
If you're concerned about over spending, just transfer your spending money into that account. Take your normal bank card as well as a backup incase it's needed.

| I took the pre-loaded card to Florida with me this year as my bank is now charging mega-bucks for overseas transactions, and I have been trying to open a nationwide account for the past year, go figure.
They gave me two cards, both had different pin numbers, so god forgive I lost one of them I still had access to my money, and like with any other card if you lose one of them they provide a contact number to ring up and report it missing, but then allow you to continue with the 2nd card, I did find it cheaper than using my direct debit card.
