Won a free holiday? Suspicious? This is the place for you!

Sorrry, this may turn into an essay but I would really appreciate someone taking the time to read this and advise us of what to do.

We have just returned from a week in the Algarve curtsey of petchey travel. I was contacted a few months ago to tell me we had won a weeks free accommodation in 1 of 4resorts. As there are 5 of us, we had to upgrade and pay 175 euros. Although we were well aware that this was more than likely to be a time share like deal, we thought we would go on ahead and get as much as we could out of them as possible. A family holiday would have cost more that the 175 euros we paid and the facilities were brilliant and flights have to be got anyway. We were approached to attend a welcome meeting on second evening, we took ourselves away for the day and returned with tired children sp didn't attend. Several more phone calls to meet with rep... on the Fri we finally gave in just to see what it is all about. Brought the girls with us as insurance and a means of escaping ifthey got bored!!!!
So, this Infiniti..... is it all its cracked up to be???? We would be interested if it was a dead cert, but we are so scared off getting fleeced. We are in enough debt with mortgage, car, credit cards without added to it. Please help and advise. MANY Many thanks

Roberta

Hi Roberta
Welcome to HW. I suppose it all depends on what you want from future holidays, what you expect to gain from this as opposed to your normal holiday pattern, job situation - given the many job losses at present, etc, etc. Have at look at the "Timeshare as Investment" forum on HW which may help you decide.

what we hoped we would gain is been able to take several hols a year, anywhere in world, when we wanted. This was all "sold" to us by the rep. I'm just scared that we will pay all that money, that we can't really afford at the moment and they won't deliver. Do you have any experience of infiniti?

You are buying a pig in a poke. It doesn't matter what the rep says - ask for a copy of the contract to study.

And then don't buy.
