Compensation from haven holidays?

UK

Postby ClareJ7 on Thu Apr 16, 2009 20:20 pm

I returned from a 4 night break at Weymouth bay haven a week ago, and the service we received there was awful.

I won’t go deeply into it unless you'd like to read my essay of a letter which I emailed them!

The short story is: Our electricity kept going off, and the second day it happened it took them 10 hours to fix a problem which took 15 minutes to fix in the end. Not to mention endless different people who kept passing us onto someone else. We were in our caravan with no electricity or heating until 8pm, we paid extra money to get a centrally heated caravan as we had 2 elderly people with us, one of them being over 80.

Anyway just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with complaining to haven? Am I being too optimistic hoping for some kind of compensation?

Just if anyone was wondering, they sent me a letter with the usual "we're sorry for the inconvenience" rubbish.

And also have given us a voucher for a free upgrade next time we go away.

Better than nothing i suppose.

If anyone is interesed in reading whaty they sent me i can scan it.

Personally I would write back, be brief, they hate long letters.

Stating you are not satisfied with their response, as you felt this was a Health & Safety issue, and the public and others should be made aware of this possible fire risk.

yes please, I'd love to read the winning letter that made them turn their head?
I am threatening them with a solicitor at the moment, and how long did it take for you to get given a goodwill gift?
