Has anyone heard of a company "Crest European", based in Manchester. They have called me to say they have a corporate buyer that would like to buy my timeshare. I have to make an apointment (£90 refundable booking fee), to see the buyer in Crowborough, Sussex.

It doesn't really matter whether anyone has heard of them or not.

If you are paying ANYTHING up front then it is a con.

Let me try and explain it to you like this.

I have a two buyers for your timeshare. I only charge £500.00 up front. Send me £500.00 and I will let your timeshare go to the highest bidder!! Could go for thousands.

I could pick them up on Ebay all the time at £1.00 but yours is the one I really want.

You don't believe me? Well don't believe them either.

A little research produces the information that the reason for the meeting is to introduce you to a massive investment opportunity whereby you "invest" in some property in the Caribbean. They will pay for your timeshare if you make this investment. Remember if it is DRI then you can't sell it anyway.

The investment may be a good one - after all it is in property and that's a good investment at the moment. The way to make money a small fortune out of this is to start with a large fortune.

Hi spiralbeast
Was this a cold call? As many on HW forums write cold call = scam. Ask yourself how did they know you had something to sell? Also how did they get your `phone number? Could they give you the name/address of the buyer? If you have £90 to spend and time to travel to Crowborough with probably a four/five hour presentation to watch, enjoy your day. Recommend you do not take your debit/credit cards or cheque book and then you will not be tempted to give money away.
