We have just booked 1 weeks cruising followed by 1 weeks stay in Majorca in 2010 could anyone give some tips regarding how to pack your luggage for maximum benefit, and what are the allowances for your luggage for this holiday.

Hi Firefighter,
Your best bet, from an old cruiser, is to plan for just one week, but take stuff that is quick to wash and hopefully mostly non-iron. then on the last but one day on the cruise allow an hour to wash the lot in the laundry room.
You will also find the hotel usually has a laundry room or service.
The other option, and the one we use is, using the ships laundry service we allow £25 the have the whole lot done for us. keep an eye out for the full bag offer the sometimes comes out on the fifth/sixth day. at £7.50 a good deal.
At the moment I beleive the baggage limit is 20Kg plus 5Kg in hand luggage, you are able to purchase extra, but this is expensive. more that having it washed.
Most airlines web sites gives full details on current regulations, so worth checking before you go.
Also check Thompsons as last year you could still purchase extra weight up to 27kg for suitcases.
Edit:
Just been into Thomson Cruise site, and as far as I can make out it is maximum 23kg either with or without hand luggage of 7Kg.
Go to Thomson cruise, start to look into booking a cruise then look in A to Z under baggage. If you can understand it you are better than I.
Or into Thomson fly. http://www.thomson.co.uk/editorial/legal/baggage-allowance.html
