First Holiday to Egypt, Marsa Alam Any Advice Very Welcome!

Hello,

My husband and I are going on holiday to Egypt at the begining of Septemeber. We are staying at the Ibreotel Lamaya Resort Hotel in Marsa Alam. I am basically looking for any advice that anybody has to help us have the best holiday we can, on such things as: how much and when to tip people? What currency is best to use for tipping? Do we have to get a visa at the airport if we are not planning on leaving the resort? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we have not been to Egypt before.
