However great news!

Our email was answered too, but we have been told that Global vacations will be happy for us to reclaim via Credit Card. Is this more or less what you were told?

We originally had that reply, but Mastercard weren't interested (beyond 10/100 day period), so responded to GV (well to Vacation Services as that's who took the money) and the reponse was: "send us a letter from Mastercard stating they won't refund and we'll do a bank transfer".
However the legal department of the company I work for (a multinational computer company - probably one of the 2 biggest names in computing) is willing to get involved if it all goes pear shaped, and GV are aware of this, so that might be one reason why they are trying to be reconcillary.

Success - they've paid up!
Now I have to decide if I want to chase up ETOO for the "marketing fee" and air fares to Malaga!!

I want to introduce to you the latest scam in Timeshare resales I have discovered. A Company called Travelwest, based at Exeter Airport, is a company you need to steer wide clear of.
First of all, once you visit their website, www.timeshareescape.co.uk, a sales agent calls you with a very sweet voice, requesting to to come for an interview with them. You get told that they WILL buy your timeshare, and you will receive your money upon registration of the deed in their name. WHAT THEY DO NOT TELL YOU, IS THAT YOU ONLY GET YOUR MONEY AFTER 3 YEARS!!! AND, you have to buy a product (Club Class Concierge) costing about £10,000 in order for them to buy your timeshare. That is what they do not tell you over the phone.
So you take the 3 and a half hour drive from London, expecting you will get up to 100% of your money back. Then the bull stories come your way, sold by an inexperienced agent named Ben and an obnoxious “manager” named Lisa. I took my stuff and walked straight out of there, amazed that I was so stupid to be fooled into driving there in the first place.
The woman who will probably phone you – her name is Clare Garner. She works for the company marketing this scam, DO NOT fall for her sweet stories. And DO NOT drive to Exeter, you will waste your name and precious fuel money.
DO NOT DO IT!!!
