is anyone else put off by them?
cos me and my boyfriend went to marmaris and turkey for first time in june for relaxing holiday for 2 weeks, the local people where really friendly and all that, boyfriend didnt get much hassle when he went out alone,
but as soon as i stept out of the hotel with him, i was bombarded with hasslers from shops, restuarants, and bars wanting us to go in and buy stuff from them, which i didnt like at all and made me feeel uneasy, and intimidated throughout my stay, and couldnt enjoy my holiday because of this, even when we went to beach and paid our money for the seats, as soon as my bf moved to go into the water, i had the man who took the money of you coming over to me in a space of 15 to 20 minutes about 3 times pestering me and quizing me about whether i paid or not.
apart from that, the only time i really felt that i enjoyed myself was when i booked day trips or just lounged about the hotel grounds just to get away from the hasslers. by the end of the 2 weeks i was glad i was going home, and was thinking of not going back to turkey again unless theres another part of turkey there isnt much hassle.
did anyone experience this?

It can be daunting I know, Egypt is far worse you just have to master the art of saying 'No Thank You' and then ignoring them or walk away. You must remember its their way of life, they know no different we expect everyone to live to our values but lifes not like that.
There are places big enough (Lykiaworld, Olu deniz) where you can quite easily stay in the complex as it has everything but if you do that you could be in any country in the world, I think its good to get out and see the country, experience the culture warts'n'all............
