Getting Married in Cyprus

Postby Sam on Tue May 11, 2004 12:38 pm

My partner and I would love to get married in Cyprus September 2005. How long do we have to be in Cyprus before we get married? Is there anywhere in Coral Bay we can marry? Can we marry on a beach? Also I have been married before and now divorced, so can I still get married in a church in Cyprus?

Getting Married in Cyprus

Postby Michelle1805 on Thu Jul 01, 2004 5:18 pm

Hi Sam,

My name is Michelle and I got maried in Protaras in Cyprus last year It was wonderful. I contacted a private wedding co-ordinator from Aphrodite Wedding Services. She arranged every thing from start to finish and left me just to get there on time. 25 of us attended my day and words cannot express the excellent service and organisation skills of the company. They are so personal and take on all the stress of the day. I got married in the local town hall and then had a reception in The Capobay Hotel which over looks the famous Fig tree Bay. We then had pub party back at The Lapas pub on the main strip. They organised a finger buffet for me which did just the trick. Adam and George the owners are Cypriot but the bar is just like an English bar. Typical good cheap pub food a little music and various tv screens (for the footi) and the guys are a fabulous laugh always up to something.

I see you were concerned about being divorced. Not a worry contact Aphrodite they will tell you all that is required. I am not sure they do Coral Bay but I am sure they will recommend something else.

Good luck with the wedding contact me if you need anything else.

Michelle

Getting Married in Cyprus

Postby gandalf on Fri Jul 02, 2004 12:38 pm

Hi Sam,

I worked in Cyprus for a while and yeah you can get married in Coral Bay, the hotel they do it in is the St George Hotel, there is a lovely little chappel there and the hotel is lovely though you dont have to stay there. The other place in paphos to get married is the town hall but St George is much nicer.

I think Thomson holidays still do a wedding package there.

hope this helps

Hi
I got married at the St George Hotel in june 1997. My mother organised the whole event and it was fantastic. We had an english vicar and had 4 days of sun before we got married. We had the wedding with a great local photographer and had a small reception (10 people) at the hotel after. We then had a weeks holiday still at the St George. The staff were fantastic and I am going back to cyprus in couple of weeks and can't wait to see the church again.
Hope you have a fantastic time and as many good memories as me and my husband do.

Hi Sam My name is Andy and my wife and I got married in Aug last year, as I had been married before this was also a worry for us. We got married at the hotel grecian sands just outside of aya nappa and it was perfect, they provide the wedding co'ordinater so you dont have to worry about a thing. the hotel itself is right on the beach and they have many different wedding venues. we stayed there for 3 weeks and are going back in Aug for our second wedding aniversary, same hotel and same room (sloppy eh) I would just like to say if your wedding goes as our's did it will be the best time of your life. I have included the web address for you as well... Good Luck :thumleft: www.greciansands.com

I am just back from getting married in Paphos. You have to be on the island three working days before you can get married. You have to get Affidavits from Solicitors saying you are free to marry and once you get across you will go for your marriage licence and pay 165 Cyp pounds. They will look at your Birth Certificate and Affidavit etc and give you your receipt for your licence. I think if you have been Christened you can married in a church. Some hotels can marry you. I got married in the Town Hall in Paphos as it was a lovely old building. No regrets had great time

Getting Married in Cyprus

Postby ClareJones on Thu Dec 13, 2007 5:35 pm

Hi all
My husband and i got married back in August in Ayia Napa .
We booked the whole thing ourselves, and managed to save well over a thousand pounds!!! We managed to find everything we needed all on line.
We'd like to thank everyone at HAIR&BEAUTY INTERNATIONAL for all there help, not only did they do a fantastic job on my hair but Jodie the owner went above and beyond when my husband forgot his waistcoat.

I would also like to thank the staff at the florist in the Adams beach for doing a wonderful job on all the flowers and getting them to us at our villa (which was off the beaten track) in plenty of time for the service.

I would also recommend Jill and Steve at Still productions for the amazing dvd of the whole day.

If anyone would like more info on any of the people we dealt with in Ayia Napa please get in touch as id be more than happy to pass on contact details.
