Sol Club Kantaoui Hotel - Port El Kantaoui
Hi there fellow holiday makers! My family and I are off to Port El Kantaoui in a couple of weeks. We're staying at the hotel sol club kantaoui, I've read mixed reviews on the net and was wondering if anybody else out there could give me their opinion on that hotel & region. Any thoughts appreciated! cheers! ::roll:

Re: sol club kantaoui
I have been reading lots of reviews for this resort as I have been given a brilliant price for next years holidays, The resort itself has been purpous built and sounds friendly and safe also the beaches are sandy and stretch quite a way, I will have a look for some hotel reviews for the place you have chosen see what I can find, Please do leave us a review when you get back,

Re: sol club kantaoui
Just found this one from someone who went in June this year,
"
Overall:Best holiday we have been on. Right on the beach, free pedlos, sailing and windsurfing. Pleasure trips on beach, jet ski, paragliding, speedboats. Entertainment throughout the day and night, food fantastic, staff very friendly and welcoming. Liked it so much going back next year."
Sounds like a good result for you,
Jan

Re: Sol Club Kantaoui Hotel - Port El Kantaoui
Hi Jan, I've written a review of my holiday (although I didn't write as much as I'd have liked as my son was waiting to get on the computer after me) but I thought I'd post a quick message on here for you incase you didn't see it.
We had a nice holiday but if I'm honest for the money we paid I think we could have had a nicer one somewhere else like Crete. The hotel was okay, clean and tidy, the food was amazing, the staff were all lovely. The hotels are all pretty close together I'm pretty sure I saw yours just before we got dropped off. The bus trip to the hotels is short and a bit of an eye opener, you soon can see that these are mostly very poor people living in not very nice conditions. Which is why for us (and other english people there we spoke to aggreed) the holiday wasn't as great as it could've been. Problem is you couldn't really go for a nice long walk or wander to a local bar and have a pint. Port el kantaoui was a nice little marina but you get hassle off the shop owners as you walk past. This is worst in the afternoon for some reason, to avoid hassle go after 5pm when it's cooler and a bit busier. Given the chance they will rip you off whilst they smile in your face. There is a government ran gift shop to the right of the main stone wall archway as you go in the mariner, go there before you buy anything from the other shops as in here everything is labelled with a price and it's air conditioned and you get no hassle at all from the staff.
Just to the right of that is a mini market selling food and joining that is the shop where you can get cheap booze, but your all inclusive so that won't bother you. Around the port there are cafes which were reasonable in price. There are lots of people there offering boat trips to see dolphins and such like but we didn't try them cos we all get seasick. The beach near the hotel is the nicest I've ever been on, the sand is so soft it's like walking on flower. The water was lovely and warm and little fishes swim around your legs as you stand in it. There is every water sport you can think of, we did para gliding (i think that's what it's called, the one where you get pulled along in the air in a parachute buy a speed boat) which cost 8 each and was well worth it. I was very nervous as I'm terrified of heights, but infact it wasn't scary at all as you don't get the sense of height up there as it's such a wide open space your in (that probably sounds like nonsense but I wasn't scared and would recommend it highly).
I suppose really we did have a nice time but I won't be going back, I missed being able to just wander around shops popping from bar to bar and generally feeling free to take a stroll.
Hope some of this helps enjoy your hol when it comes
