Merlin Beach Resort - Tri Tang Beach - Phuket
Anyone visited this hotel? I am going for Xmas and New Year a little concerned about the weather, has anyone just got back? Any advise would be appreciated.

Merlin Beach Resort - Tri Tang Beach - Phuket
Hi
We stayed at the Merlin Beach Resort at end of June this year (2007). I can't comment on weather for Xmas/New Year, but can tell you the hotel is very good. The pools are the best we've ever experienced. Food is good, no problems there, and a little restaurant at the top of the hill next to the hotel, very cheap and good.
Beach at the hotel was disappointing, can't understand why they don't clean it up beautifully when next to a great hotel.... we were advised not to swim due to strong currents.
Only downside to the hotel: our room was a little musty smelling for a start, but my sister's was for the whole 10 days, even her pillows were damp smelling. Taxi driver told us it was hit with the Tsunami but not very badly.... Too far to walk into Patong, you need a taxi.
Saying that, if were back in that neck of the woods, we would stay there again.

We returned on the 1/12/07 & the weather is superb 20 to about 32 in the day & comfortably humid. The Merlin beach resort is also superb, no musty smell now though. we always took a tuk tuk to patong, about a 10 minute drive & quite scenic. Costs about 6 aus $ per journey. Or theres the free hotel shuttle, that we always missed. Enjoy your stay!
