hotels near thon buri and hualamphong railway stations

I'm going to Thailand in late October and using Bangkok as a base for a week looking to travel out to other areas. I am looking for a hotel in an area within walking distances of both the thon buri and hualamphong railway stations. Can anyone suggest a good hotel/district of Bangkok which would be good to stay in???
