The location is good for the Historical side 2 stops on the tram to the castle -cost 14kc or 80kc for all day pass -covers metro, tram, bus in central zones. central prague like most cities is more expensive in the more tourist type places. There are many bars on the street around the hotel plus places to eat out. one of the best places to eat out is resturant at Brevnov monstry 5 tram stops going away from prague on number 22 tram which can be found straight outside the hotel.
suggest you see if you can book -they speak English prices reasonable and menus are in english. http://www.klasternisenk.cz/en/index_senk.php
web sites - www.expats.cz -loads of info. on prague and recommendations for eating out plus practical advice.
www.mapy.cz good for planning
advice
Prague is safe at night -best avoid late night in the centre full of drunken english friday/saturday night.
public transport works and is cheap use the trams for best view of the city metro for speed. ticket machines have english button them! also validate your ticket on the tram and on the metro entrance.
Taxis use a good firm like AAA look on expats for reviews if you need to use one to/from the airport. cost is around 600Kc by taxi whereas public transport is 20Kc!
look above street leval at the buildings and you will find stunning buildings.
donts
keep your money in pouches and take sensible precautions
re high value goods mobile phones etc.
eat round the tourist sites/areas unless you use the expats guide to tell you if it good value/good food.
I live and work in Prague
hope this helps

Savoy Hotel - Prague
Hi spent a lovely weekend in Prague, although I do not know the hotel my one piece of advice would be to take flat shoes as the cobbles play havoc on your feet after a full day sightseeing.
I went with a friend and as two females we did not feel that there were any problems in the city at night, most people there are to enjoy themselves.
We arrived at the airport and went to the taxi desk to get into the city there was no problem there. Despite what I had read before travelling the people were very friendly and a lot of them speak good english.
I hope that you have a wonderful time, there is pleny to see and do and it is a beautiful city. Have fun.

further to my 1st post
It is difficult to recommend everything to do in 2 days
but for this and furture threads (copy the links into your internet browser)
use
http://www.dpp.cz/index.php?q=en
for public transport in english
use a quick list of places to visit
http://www.expats.cz/prague/directory/p ... o-visit/0/
or
http://www.czech.cz/en/culture/prague/
everyone has different needs
The Royal trail combines a lot of the sights though i would do it in reverse and start at the Castle and walk down the Hill ! I would recommend this as it was 36C the other day !
you are idealy placed as you can just turn left from your hotel and then turn left again and walk to the castle.
for anyone who needs to visit the castle without walking up the hill
use public transport recommend tram 22/23
stops Krlovsk letohrdek 1st stop at top of hill ! ideal as it has free WC nice pleasent stroll to castle
or next stop Prask hrad
other ideas
would recommend you use or anyone use
tram line 22 as this goes through the old town and you can catch from outside your hotel and get off at Nam. Miru- marked on maps ( nemesti miru) use metro back into centre ?
if this is done at lunchtime or meal times link to places to eat at Namesti Miru

Czech food - English spoken(assumption you would like to eat Czech?)
you can catch the old tram a historic old tram which goes from a tram museum which is just down the road from where you are assumption you will be in Prague at weekends
http://www.expats.cz/prague/czech/place ... ramline91/
nothing much to see at other end but good look at Prague
this gives you a map of how to get to the museum from your hotel basic one tram stop towards prague stop called Brusnice
walk towards stop Vozovna Střeovice tram stop for people from other areas

Savoy Hotel - Prague
we stayed at the savoy last september for our wedding annerversery - well worth the stay - had the hotel car pick us up - yes its more expensive but great fun having someone meet us and being taken for a ride in the hotel merc
booking in very straight forward and location excellent
free mini bar - beersw and soft drinks etc
eating out loads of places near by try the indianesian cafe in the square two mins from the hotel
the hotel has a small bart area and the staff are very helpful
breakfast was in a great resturant area very plush with the meal being first rate each morning
as for the location - well the trams are good value but the best thing of this hotel is that it is very quiet(get a room at the back)
enjoy prague -good value for money best time to go monday thru friday (avoids the stag parties)
enjoy your stay
